The problem with AI, automation, and robotics is really simple: extract all the excess profits from the corporations therein to subsidize the populations they deprived of livelihoods and opportunities. It's literally fully-automated luxury communism.

@kaia@brotka.st She's old enough that she's not really going to break it. It'd mostly be for trips and airplanes and stuff where she'd be sitting down anyway, not much means by which for her to break it. And, if she didn't like it, it could be a nice content consumption machine. Better than an iPad, I really dislike iPads---had the original Google Pixel tablet years ago, like in 2013 or whenever it came out, and it was really solid and enjoyable to use.

@kaia@brotka.st I was going to go to the store today to see if they had one in stock for my daughter. Want something simple I can load up with movies for her to watch. Had been trying to use an old iPad but it was so slow that basically nothing worked + it was virtually impossible to put anything on it without a Mac to interface it with.

I made a LinkedIn recently and it's extremely depressing to see people you know doing better than you or being more successful than you are.

@SuperDicq@minidisc.tokyo Running Gnome on my X13. KDE on my desktop (which hasn't been touched in months, in an apartment I'm never at and need to unload). Never had much by way of trouble or difficulty with XFCE, seems pretty solid and I'm led to believe (never tested this myself) that it's more performant on lower-end (by today's standards) hardware.
