I guess I'm not techie enough, but if they're censoring posts about, say, pixelfed, that I posted, but let my cat videos through, it would seem I didn't intend the pixelfed post to be local only. What am I missing here?
That's great! I guess the question still remains, though, if bad actors like Meta are hiding material they don't want to see, using algorithms and all that stuff that is the exact opposite of what the fediverse is supposed to be, who can call that out?
I thought fediverse was short for federated server multiverse or some such. I can't remember exactly. Not sure if the symbol is copyrighted or trademarked. If it is, then somebody has to give permission for corporate owned servers to use it.

Yes indeed. It is foolish to pretend we have rule of law anymore. They have no intention of being bound by it. Help isn't coming from the judicial system. They are mostly now part of the insurrection.
You are mistaken. It is happening here.
Can confirm. Even a casual review of Philosophy of Economics material turns up a pile of asshats who can't grok that normal people don't act or think like them.

It is the custom at our house to watch all the Hobbit & LOTR movies over the week of Thanksgiving. And for winter break, we watch in storyline order all the Star Wars movies.
So tonight was Phantom Menace night.
Now, I know a lot of people don't care for the Prequels. But we have enjoyed all the movies for years.
It's amazing how long it's been now since the kids were young and we spent a gazillion dollars on Star Wars toys.
Where did the time go?
2023 has been way, way over the average temperatures staring in the summer and continuing into November.
Soon we'll have the year without winter as you know it at your latitude. And that line will keep creeping northward. Along with it comes pests, diseases, failed crops, dead trees, algae in the water, and oh yeah, way higher AC bills.
Are you ready?
Here, at least, the democratic party is simply unwilling to do what it would take - regular town halls in all 117 red counties, so one a quarter each, maybe, in 2024. If they had three or four teams they could cluster them, or they could spread them out, either way.
Also, and this is very important - Clear 6th grade literacy level explanations of why voting for republicans is not in their own best interest. Real policy position handouts with substance, not slogans, in clear simple language. These need to be mailed to every household, again once a quarter or so, staggered with the town halls. They could also split up the material into four separate booklets.
And finally, they need to stop being afraid to say legislating religious beliefs is wrong & unconstitutional. And show why, with not just some "fringe" lgbtq or abortion cases - stuff that will resonate with a low education populace. Ky is like 41st or some such.
That's what needs to happen, and it isn't going to.

They're not supporting trump per se. They are poor and desperate and have been lied to about why they are poor and desperate. They vote for the robber barons who have essentially enslaved them because they have been told if they don't things will get worse.
Sure, there are some diehard white nationalist christo fascists. But most people are just ordinary folks who got left behind by the high tech educated world.
I recommend the #Netflix series Terrorism Close Calls, especially if you think Hamas is only doing what they do due to "oppression" and not due to their fundamentalist Islamic beliefs in Jihad against all non-muslins (and liberal Muslims, for that matter). You've been fed a line of bull malarkey. Just like the Paris Attack (that wasn't prevented, unfortunately, and also has a documentary on Netflix), the goal of fundamentalist Islam is to destroy the western democracies & impose right wing Islam on everyone. They'll keep going no matter what fiction they have to use to get your support. It's about rejecting any citizenship that comes with a responsibility to respect constitutional rights for lgbtq folks, women, and non muslim folks that Islam will not allow. (The same rights Christian Nationalists are willing to kill people to eliminate.) If the continual Jihad attempts to kill westerners hadn't been thwarted, thousands more Americans would be bombed & shot to death.
If you are an LGBTQ person, African-American, Jew, Muslim, or Woman who supports the republican party, I hope you are at least being honest with yourself about what they think of you. The problem with collaborators is that they think they and their family will be spared, and they're always wrong. Carrying water for fascists doesn't make you exempt. When you're no longer necessary or useful, you're a gonner, class. Don't forget it.

Tuesday I learned that a group of schoolkids in Kentucky visited the capital to ask the state legislature to allow a referendum or pass a law banning #slavery (Apparently this red state has never done that. What a surprise.)
Now, our legislature is almost entirely red except for the Governor. So...you can imagine the "warm" reception they got. Lots of legislators they visited hummed & hawed. Nobody committed to bringing up such a bill.
And one person was actually honest with them. They were told that it was unlikely such a measure would ever be brought up for a referendum, because that issue would "bring out Democrats and increase their voting."
Yes, you read that right. The #GOP in #Kentucky is refusing to put any measures on the ballot that would bring Democrats to the polls. And admitted it.
And republicans WOULD NOT turn out to vote for that.
In case you were wondering if Kentucky is a state you want to bring your business to, or move here to live, the answer is no.
It's nice to see a major media outlet finally saying that the goal of #ChristoFascism is to impose their bizarre unscientific puritan beliefs on people who aren't members of their cult. But that should have been the headline, not the small print.
Christianity does not have the right to decide for everyone else what is acceptable clothing, social or sexual relationships, culture, beliefs, or lifestyle.
Christianity only has the right to tell their own cult members what to do or not do.
Legislating religious beliefs is unconstitutional, period.
Legislating christian religious beliefs about abortion, lgbtq, women's rights, or anything else is a violation of *my* 1st amendment right to freedom of religious practice.
It is also a violation of the UN Charter of Human Rights - especially prohibitions against forced pregnancy.
No theocracy in America.
