Tuesday I learned that a group of schoolkids in Kentucky visited the capital to ask the state legislature to allow a referendum or pass a law banning #slavery (Apparently this red state has never done that. What a surprise.)
Now, our legislature is almost entirely red except for the Governor. So...you can imagine the "warm" reception they got. Lots of legislators they visited hummed & hawed. Nobody committed to bringing up such a bill.
And one person was actually honest with them. They were told that it was unlikely such a measure would ever be brought up for a referendum, because that issue would "bring out Democrats and increase their voting."
Yes, you read that right. The #GOP in #Kentucky is refusing to put any measures on the ballot that would bring Democrats to the polls. And admitted it.
And republicans WOULD NOT turn out to vote for that.
In case you were wondering if Kentucky is a state you want to bring your business to, or move here to live, the answer is no.
