@nytpu ah yes, wayland is so much easier for developers!*
*as long as you're not trying to write a compositor on your own (which was completely realistic with xorg but no longer is for wayland), trying to port over large projects like desktop environments, using an operating system that doesn't have wayland like openBSD, making an app that uses keybindings, etc etc
it was pretty cool, but also really annoying. oftentimes installing old DEs isn’t very fun for me anymore because they don’t tend to have good hiDPI monitor support, and since i use a hiDPI laptop, it can be a real eyestrain. my eyes kind of hurt after using it… the panel didn’t really want to scale much, some of those icons are absolutely tiny on my 2256x1504 screen, and i can’t make the taskbar text any bigger. the “fake windows XP” aesthetic here is really strong and pretty cool looking tbh
The developer of Simple Mobile Tools, an Android app suite which has been historically well respected in the FOSS space, has sold their apps to a company called ZipoApps, a company that buys apps from independent developers to add advertisements and trackers to them. I highly suggest uninstalling any of the Simple Mobile Tools apps you have on your device and looking for alternatives.
doing stupid shit again, but i just had to clown on oracle again
this is some official oracle documentation, if you look closely at the commands provided, you’ll see instead of “–accept” it’s “-–accept”. The first dash is a regular hyphen, but the second one is an “En Dash”, which i’m 99% sure was automatically corrected by whatever word processor was used to write this document, meaning if you copy and paste the command, it’ll fail to run. that’s really funny to me lmao
i’ve always used nemo as my primary file manager despite being an xfce user because it had a bunch of features thunar didn’t have, however it seems like on newer versions of xfce, thunar is actually way better, my main problem with it was no search function which has been fixed, i might give it another try when i eventually upgrade to the latest version of linux mint xfce
