Bloody doctors out there telling people (my boyfriend) to get back to training as soon as possible after #covid and train hard because it speeds recovery.
All the research I have seen says the exact opposite - do not exert yourself even once you start feeling able to because it increases risk of long covid and prolongs the illness.
Hooray! It's Friday #Kindness, so I'm asking you to share the kindness you've seen this week. From smiling at someone to setting up a soup kitchen or community food share, I'd love to hear about it.
If you are happy for your story to be shared on Time for Kindness, please say so. But don't be afraid to share if you aren't - let's celebrate kindness in all shapes and sizes.

Please shoot me down if I am way off base here but if Blind people are asking you to include colour in your alt text then it's not OK for sighted people to refuse because they "feel" it's not relevant for people who were born Blind.
1) Not every Blind person is born Blind.
2) Plenty of people who aren't Blind use alt-text for various reasons.
3) What Blind people are saying is more important than what a sighted person "feels" is true.
Folks, I just spoke to my MP and the main takeaway was that we have to mobilise people who aren't transphobic because MPs are inundated with cis women who are scared and angry about trans folks.
They are simply not hearing from people who aren't scared and angry.
If you haven't contacted your MP about this - please do it now! Especially if you're a cis woman.
@EUCommission good god WHY?! No! I thought you'd be more realistic about the destruction AI is causing to the climate, creative industries and freelancers.
As #Pride month comes to a close, this is your reminder that we still exist the rest of the year and we really need allies to keep showing up for us.
March, vote, write to your representatives, sign petitions, donate to charities, buy from #LGBTQIA+ business owners, learn, and fly your rainbow flags year round.
The first post I put up for Pride month had 92 likes and 62 boosts over on Mastodon, meanwhile here on the 'gram only 91 people actually saw it - despite me having 1500 followers and sharing it to Stories.
That's not a small difference, and it's not an outlier.
Over the 28 days before I scheduled this post, my Mastodon posts had 979 engagements, while on Instagram they had 153.
Not only that, I have had more enquires through Mastodon this year, than I have had through Instagram ever.
I noticed some of the compost in a few of the herb pots was raised today. Assumed they'd been nudged accidentally or the cat had investigated. But this evening I noticed a pale yellowish lump in one and it's a mushroom! There's one in another too.
I did not plant mushrooms. Wtf? Can I eat them? How did this happen?
That's a problem I had in school - I would always have to write the whole essay first and then write the outline from it because how do I know what's going to be in the essay until I've written it?!
Managed a gentle run today. Focused on form and listening to my body over anything else as my knee is still not right.
I'm going to look into a running coach or someone who I can talk to about my form because I think it would help. I can explain what feels good, what hurts or aches, and they can tell me if that's normal and advise.
Knee did well though until I literally put that foot through the door at home and it twisted and ouched.
Something I really appreciate about the #Fediverse is that I'm not hyper aware of what posts I'm lingering on or reminding myself to like and comment on posts that are important or joyful.
The lack of algorithm means I can just scroll at my own pace without always considering what I'm telling the algorithm with my pauses and interactions.
@templetongate@janbartosik@bookstodon IMO their catalogue has improved and it's really easy to add books yourself now. They also recently added a barcode scanner for book finding and adding.
Are there any real sky / astronomical #astrology people on the Fediverse btw?
I'm learning astrology at the moment but I'm Real Sky all the way so I don't really want to follow generic astrology stuff simply because it confuses me but I'd love to connect with some Real Sky folks here.
OMFG I just learned that people are kept unemployed under capitalism because it allows them more bargaining power with that threat over the people in work.
So obvious now but I'd just assumed it was a rubbish side effect of capitalism as opposed to a callous choice.
