last summer, i accidentally stayed at hotel that was a converted mental asylum.

it was a place they sterilized queer and trans people. where men could "drop off" their wives, to be held indefinitely & subject to treatment that amounted to torture.

after it closer, it became a prison. then, a spa & hotel 🤮

the history of therapy is parallel to the history of incarceration. it has historically been about managing "the undesirables."

if we just throw abusers into the pile of ~undesirables~, without meaningfully interrogating the history & historic function of ... therapy, psychology & psychiatry...
we are absolutely repeating the mistakes of the past.

it would be sick if the "send abusers to therapy!" crowd had literally any meaningful insights about how therapy has historically been used *by abusers* to put away their victims.

the amount of women, queer & trans, neurodivergent, survivors, disabled, children, unhoused & bipoc folks who have been put away, into mental hospitals, asylums & experimental, brutal therapies...
is completely lost on them.

historically, therapy has SERVED and enabled abusers & oppressors... not change them.

pro tip ::
when someone is complaining about something creepy && you pipe up like "hey! i do that!"

i believe that the slaughter of pagans served a political goal in the expansion of christian empire, and so i attempt to revive some elements of pagan cultures as a way to fight oppressive hegemony.

i do this in community with friends & loved ones who never surrendered their cultures, to build bridges among colonized peoples from different places. i consider magic to be cultural technologies for meaning making. admittedly, i have absolutely seen some shit that makes very little sense, and witchcraft imbues the world with a smol level of magic, as a treat of wonder, which i rely on to make it through this hellacape.

my other hottest take is that i only want to Burn It Down & "do revolution" with people who know how to build and take care of functioning communities,
