   everyone wants to tell survivors & abusers to "go to therapy," but no one wants to tell a certain leftist prepper journalist to settle up his war trauma, instead of making money off of stirring up a civil war. 🤨

     @scorpiontongue I mean, I am extremely nihilistic about the future and I don't think there is any real hope of overthrowing capitalism, avoiding ascendant fascism, avoiding the climate catastrophe, avoiding some kind of fracture of the United States along cultural and political lines, or anything else, but I certainly don't think that going full prepper is going to help with that at all. It's far better to prepare for that sort of thing by building real life networks of mutual aid and mutual support, to get out of your isolation and your clique as much as possible not burrow more deeply into it, to find or build a community and collaborate with them to build alternative means of supporting and protecting people that work outside of the system. (And I also don't think you need a hope of actually "winning" or significantly changing anything about the system to still want to love and protect people and fight as hard as you can, because some things are worth fighting for even if you can't win.)

     This is exactly what Robert Evans advocates for.

     "It could happen here" is interesting sometimes, and I listen to it frequently, but I skip a lot of episodes that are either too depressing or on topics I already read about.
