@alice like today I was asked why I didn’t cw a posts that just says “liberals are pro capitalist” as being politics. Like that’s silly I’m not going to cw that
@alice I hear what you’re saying but I don’t think I agree in all cases. I do try to cw broadly triggering content, but I think in this case there are tools like word filters that you can use on the flip side to avoid trauma triggers or you can choose to block somehow who frequently posts about things that are triggering for you. I think what people choose to cw on their own platform is under their discretion and personally I’ve decided that I specifically don’t cw politics
This is something I’ve seen black folks especially highlight is a belief in a “right to comfort” that upholds white supremacy. That people—especially white people—will only act as long as they don’t experience discomfort. I’ve seen folks unironically say that they think it’s unreasonable for allyship to mean giving up anything. If your allyship only exists within the bounds of your comfort, it is functionally worthless. Growth and change happen outside the comfort zone https://todon.nl/@salad_bar_breath/115288721942659763
And maybe this is a hot take but I think this extends to cw culture on mastodon and the persistent desire for people—again especially white people—to exist in a world that is free of “politics”. There’s a demand and expectation to not ever have to be made uncomfortable that disproportionately favors people that exist along the most axis of privilege and makes those who exist on the least axis of privilege feel like they have to hide their lived experiences to make sure nobody ever feels uncomfy
ICYMI there was a lynching in Mississippi and law enforcement just shrugged and called it a suicide. That’s how it’s going over here right now. This is what normalizing extremism gets you https://mastodon.world/@StillIRise1963/115214981624746248
You know what’s really punk rock? Making kinda shitty art and putting it out there anyways because you’re expressing yourself. Your teenage self would have slapped the shit out of you for using soulless AI slop bullshit.
@erininthemorning.com Wild for Gavin—or anyone—to launder the legacy of someone who was explicitly openly extremely violently bigoted. Who called for the death of entire classes of people. This wasn’t just “someone with a different opinion”. You absolutely do not have to “reach across the aisle” to vile hateful people like this
These mods need to be removed and the CoC needs to be amended to explicitly protect queer identities. Your regular reminder that “no politics” rules always devolve into “no marginalized people” rules https://bark.lgbt/@gimmechocolate/115164408860865811
@bkuhn imo yes, folks should boycott conferences in places where trans folks wouldn’t feel safe traveling to, regardless of the fact that some trans folks already live there.
With a conference hosted in an unsafe area, you’re asking folks who live in a safe area to travel somewhere they would be unsafe.

Hey cis people, “trans femmes are fash, actually” is manufactured transphobic discourse. This is not a real talking point. Like seriously scrutinize criticisms of specifically trans feminine people a little harder please. It should be immediately suspicious to you
If you’re a cis person you might wonder what sports bans have to do with “risk”. Surely it’s inconvenient but not an actual threat right? It feels like overreacting. It’s designed to feel like overreacting.
Sports is a wedge issue. In terms of assessing risk, it’s not really about the sports themselves, it’s about setting a precedent for legal discrimination. In every case that youth sports bans have passed, it has escalated to denying medical care, bathroom bans, etc. Sports are a canary
Israel is a terrorist state committing a genocide, murdering children and homeless and prisoners, assassinating the leaders of other countries, and Democrats just can’t bring themselves to say whether that’s right or wrong so they’re happy to keep sending them money and weapons just in case
Like it or not “sideloading” is the term for installing apps from outside your platform’s store. Instead of pushing back against an—imo useful—word, I think it’s more productive to be vocally pro-sideloading
❌ “We don’t believe in sideloading”. Confusing. Not sure if I can install apps from outside the store or not
