I was thinking earlier about how fucked up the concept of “class mobility” is. Like the promise of capitalism is that if you work hard enough you can become one of the exploiters instead of one of the exploited. That’s real crabs in a bucket stuff right there.
I happen to own a little open source software company that is expressly anti-fascist, has a “No AI” policy, and has recently been called “aggressively queer” in case you’re interested in supporting tech companies like that:
We’re getting to the point where as a tech company all you have to do is not be fascist or actively sabotage your own product with AI bullshit. You don’t even have to be good, you just have to not actively be bad
This is probably the fucking stupidest statement I’ve ever seen. You can’t build a brand on environmentalism and right-to-repair and then suddenly say you want to be “apolitical”. Your entire customer base was built on politics.
And I don’t wanna hear some shit about nobody would do the gross jobs. I’ve seen the videos of the lady that volunteers to clean up for hoarders and the guy that does the overgrown lawns. I feel like that is an overblown concern. We can figure it out
It’s wild to me that I’m a radical because I want to live in a world where everything is free. And I mean not just like food and housing and healthcare but everything. And yes I will absolutely work for free in a world where I can just go to the store and get whatever I need and walk out with it. Money is fucking dumb. The economy is fake. I can’t understand why everyone doesn’t want this
Saw a post about Turning Point USA is gonna host an alternative Christian half time show. And someone responded, “but Benito is Catholic?” And the way some of y’all don’t understand that these people don’t consider Catholics to be real Christians. Literally grew up being taught Catholicism is a false religion. You’re way underestimating the fanaticism of American Christianity
@nyx_lyb3ra I don’t think I really agree with the consent argument here. By being in public you explicitly consent to being exposed to other people existing in public, even if it makes you uncomfortable. People have a right to protest for example or to be openly gay (ideally) or practice their religion whether or not you personally consent to seeing it.
@alice@dalias I know this is probably frustrating and maybe feels contrarian but some people do post porn on main with no cw and yeah choosing to be part of their audience means understanding that they do that. I follow people right now that sometimes post content that is sexually explicit and makes me uncomfortable. I can choose to unfollow or block or filter. I don’t think I have a right to demand they curate their posts for me.
@alice like today I was asked why I didn’t cw a posts that just says “liberals are pro capitalist” as being politics. Like that’s silly I’m not going to cw that
