Korean police just needed a ladder - didn't even need a single bullet. If you're American, you'd probably be shocked that the police solved the problem without any bullets or guns.
I ran https://github.com/alacritty/vtebench and found Ghostty is faster than Kitty in benchmarks. Not sure if that really impacts practical real-world use. Feature-wise, I use a tiling window manager and tmux, so I don't need all the fancy features Ghostty provides. If you're happy with your current terminal emulator and don't feel it's slow, you don't need to consider Ghostty. For the test, I compiled and configured Ghostty in my machine. So I set it as my backup terminal emulator.
Seems like Ghostty released their 1.0, and many YouTube videos are praising it. But it seems there’s no reason for me to switch my terminal emulator from Kitty to Ghostty.
C is not a low-level language. It is a high-level language. Computer science does not have a long history. Please be aware of how and why programming languages have evolved. If you understand why these languages were invented and how they impacted each other in early days, you would never say C is a low-level language. #programming
Seems I have used more Vim bindings than Emacs bindings this month, so I ended up using both Emacs and Vim bindings. If you are using more than programming language, why not two different key bindings? - Also Qwerty and Colemak, 2벌식 and 3벌식(Korean).
@psc I've got a stable but (10years) old CPU VPC in the US West region. VPS plans in Japan usually cost more than in the US or EU. Latency from Korea to the US is about 150ms, but it's only around 30ms to Japan.
One of my cheap and terrible VPSs is down, and of course, their support is unresponsive. It's the first downtime since I launched it 10 days ago. Sadly, they are the only provider I have in Northeast Asia. Is a terrible/unstable VPS worth €4?
Emacs is one of the worst terminal emulators - we all know that. Also, most Emacs haters are actually the most hardcore Emacs users. I call this a 'love-hate relationship.'
Calculus 3rd edition by Michael Spivak (1994) Hardcover . This book has actually impacted my life more than the Bible. (I’m not a religious person, but I read it to understand Western culture.)
Seems Korean media is busy focusing on domestic politics, so few are covering the Nobel Prize awarded to 'Nihon Hidankyo,' a Japanese organization representing atomic bomb survivors. When they do, it's usually about Han Kang's Nobel Prize in Literature. --- The Nobel Peace Prize 2024 was awarded to Nihon Hidankyo "for its efforts to achieve a world free of nuclear weapons and for demonstrating through witness testimony that nuclear weapons must never be used again"
Some individuals currently banned from leaving Korea: - Ramsey Khalid Ismael (Johnny Somali, 조니소말리), American live streamer - Yoon Suk-yeol (윤석열), President of South Korea - Kim Yong-hyeon (김용현), Former Defense Minister - Lee Sang-min (이상민), Former Interior Minister - Lee Jin-woo (이진우), Capital Defense Commander - Gwak Jong-geun (곽종근), Special Warfare Commander - Jo Ji-ho (조지호), National Police Chief - Kim Bong-sik (김봉식), Seoul Police Chief - Mok Hyun-tae (목현태), National Assembly Security Chief.
Unfortunately, the package photos show Naan, but the actual content inside was not Naan. I used to live in Arizona, so I can tell that it is a (poorly made) tortilla. Many non-authentic Asian restaurants in Korea use the same thing for Naan, tortilla, and pita bread, even though they claim to be authentic and have hired foreigners (whom people mistakenly assume are from the food's country of origin) ;-)
