"Kobayashi acknowledges himself as a conservative and was...one of those who nominated Sanae Takaichi...in 2021 LDP presidential election" "Kobayashi answered “disagree” to issues such as allowing married couples to have separate surname and same-sex marriages in 2017" "Kobayashi said he gave a greeting speech at [former Unification Church] meetings and sent congratulatory telegrams in the past" https://www.asahi.com/ajw/articles/15393284 🔸LDP attempts to change frontman but keeps old songs🙄 #Japan#politics
🔸Only noticed him a couple of weeks ago due to media babble re post-Kishida candidates. Seems to have the moniker "Koba Hawk" derived from his name and being the hope of young right-wing LDP hawks. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Takayuki_Kobayashi #Japan#politics

The other attraction at the Tachineputa no Yakata (Tachineputa Museum) was the Shijimi Clam Ramen served in the top floor restaurant. The shijimi come from Lake Jusanko and there were over 50 of them in the bowl adding a delicate flavour to the shio (salt) based soup. #Goshogawara#Aomori#Japan#ramen
Visited the Tachineputa no Yakata (Tachineputa Museum) in Goshogawara, Aomori Pref. Missed the Tachineputa Festival by about a week. Didn't know that the huge tachineputa floats were only revived in 1998. Seems overhead electricity cables caused the floats to die out, but discovery of float blueprints in the early 90's led to a revival and burying the city power lines made parades possible again. #Tachineputa#Goshogawara#Aomori#Japan https://www.marugotoaomori.jp/en/sightseeing-experiences/the-worlds-tallest-paper-sculptures/
"The design life of [Japan's research submersible] Shinkai 6500 is nearing an end, and the technology to build a successor...has been lost" "...technology for creating [the spherical titanium alloy pressure-resistant shell] has not been passed down" https://www.asahi.com/ajw/articles/15386321 🔸Handing down baby-boomer generation skills/knowledge was a hot topic in the 90's, but it seems blind spots are appearing as boomers leave the work force. #Japan#undersea#exploration #KnowlegeTransfer#failure
