Are any of my ErosBlog readers by some miracle SUPER plugged in to the music video downloading/collecting scene?

As part of my services for patrons, I'm looking for the "secret stripper version" of the "Throat Full Of Glass" video of the Combichrist song. Not the 5:06 official "Dirty" version that's on YouTube but the 4:46 version described as "an alternative video where it's just the music and the full pole dance."

All links I found are to Vimeo, whence it's long gone. No Wayback joy either.

One search I monitor in Google is "sex blog" to see where ErosBlog ranks: a basic health meter showing #pornocalypse changes at Google in real time (+/- a few days).

After changing the ErosBlog tagline to "the sex blog of record" I realized some old SEO cruft was interfering with Google's snippeting engine. Clearing that out, I got a new snippet about two hours later.

Google's snippet-picking (presumably AI powered) has gotten better. Sex-blog relevant, from DEEP in the middle of a post!

Top 10 Google results for "sex blog" at this moment include:

Two actual sex blogs (me and @girlonthenet)

Two super-plastic marketing/SEO blogs for people selling services like therapy and counseling

Three tube sites

Two ancient pages about sex blogs on Reddit and Quora

One hugely-outdated garbage-compilation blog directory that bait-and-switches to a paid download product for advertisers, when you scroll down.

Somewhere between the "mine mine all mine, fuck off to jail" position on the rights of creators to absolute control over every aspect of their work, and the hoisted black flag position of maximum yarrage, there must exist a middle ground, some compromise that acknowledges to authors some moral/economic rights while avoiding wastage, abandonment, and cultural constipation.

Unfortunately we can't even TALK about finding that middle ground if partisans for the extreme positions won't stop yelling.

This post didn't garner a single comment back in 2022 and I was sad about that. Sometimes when you toss a pebble into the pond, the pond just goes "PLONK " around the pebble and that's the end of it.

Lazyweb question for y'all:

What if I've been spoiled by the ability of the Mastodon web client to do a one-push-of-a-button optical character recognition operation on images, as part of the alt-text entry interface?

I know NOTHING about the back-end software, services, or APIs that power that. But I want it in WordPress -- a plugin to grab text from an image as part of "Add Media" operation.

FOSS if possible; sustainable software always preferred!

If Etsy acquires, gets acquired by, or merges with eBay or Amazon or Alibaba or Temu in the next six months, I called it yesterday, based on my theory that when a platform rolls out new pornocalypse policies, it usually indicates a financial inflection point like a merger or acquisition.

I think it's darkly hilarious that, after Tumblr spent years being laughed at for banning "female-presenting nipples", Etsy proves that it learned nothing at all from that debacle and included "female nipples" in the list of things banned under its new #pornocalypse rules.

I am unimpressed by people on here who lecture and hector at us not to be playful with our orthography.

They argue that it makes reading harder, especially for people who use various reader tools.

Yes. But alternate orthographies are also a tool for writers. A crack about l33t pr4n stars won't land the same as a crack about elite porn stars. They are not the same text. They don't convey the same message. The language is BIGGER than standard orthography as defined by boring tech companies.

@AnarchoNinaWrites I have been framing this a tiny bit differently, but using the same climate apocalypse lens. If we aren't going to make a multigenerational maximum all-shoulders-to-the-wheel effort to halt and survive climate apocalypse (and we aren't) then we are going to lose billions over just a few decades. My feed's been full of pornocalypse lately. I went back to look at Matt Mullenweg's "Why "Go Nuts, Show Nuts" Doesn’t Work in 2022" that he wrote to explain why the ballyhooed "Tumblr porn unbanning" was a search-invisibility nothingburger. Well, guess what you see if you follow that link today? "You need to be on Tumblr to see this."
