I cannot stress this enough, the "master plan" for the ruling class here is literally "kill billions of people so we can keep doing capitalism on a boiling planet for perhaps 3 more generations" and literally everything you're struggling to understand stems from that. Why fascism? This. Why AI? Because PEOPLE won't agree, but machines can choose genocide for them. Why police state? Cause you won't go quietly into that good night.
All of it, stems from this.

And they're not going to tell you that, but their actions are speaking it louder than a bomb. I dunno what else to say; I've spent enough time studying and observing that I wouldn't even describe articulating that master plan as a THEORY anymore.

What binds the ruling class together, regardless of their professed politics, is the continuation of the capitalist order that grants them wealth and power. What explains everything they do, are the monstrous actions necessary to keep doing that as limitations are reached and exceeded. All the violence, all the reorganization of society, all the propaganda points to the same place "fuck you, we won't stop even if it kills ever last one of you; in fact, we're planning for that."

Most still get fooled by previous efforts to make it look somewhat nice, but as we hit limits, it's getting openly nasty in a hurry with much of the police state required for coercion in place already and the military on standby once it gets really nasty.
If you're still not convinced, just take a step back and ask yourself why all the backlash for civil rights, women's rights and harsh measures against climate activists, peacefully demanding changes the scientists suggest.

@AnarchoNinaWrites I have been framing this a tiny bit differently, but using the same climate apocalypse lens. If we aren't going to make a multigenerational maximum all-shoulders-to-the-wheel effort to halt and survive climate apocalypse (and we aren't) then we are going to lose billions over just a few decades. The accompanying social upheaval is UNIMAGINABLE. But the reengineering of fascism is (as I have been thinking of it) the oligarchy's plan to survive all that in style and stay on top.

We are literally out of planet, and either capitalism goes, or a shared biosphere that can support 8B+ people does. And the rich guys who own everything, including your states, have made their choice - this is what that looks like, this is the only possible answer that explains EVERYTHING falling apart around you in the precise way it is. And dawg, you're gonna tell me "that's a conspiracy theory" and I just ain't here for it - capitalism works this way, it's not a "theory" at all.

It's just a start and more is coming. Progressive books get censored or banned already, talk about climate change or basically anything opposing capitalism will be made illegal, protests will be criminalized and painted as hostile or stupid in their press right away, unions made unlawful or otherwise hampered.
