A less reported #enshitification is the enshitification of tech org themselves. As orgs enshitify their products, they lower their ethical and quality standards, and people who care about these leave, so their opinions disappear from the conversation and standards fall further.
A death spiral that won't stop until consumers reject tech in large numbers.

@dansup chevron means go to a screen not “0 notifications”. Just because you want to show a badge shouldn’t mean you remove that.
I’d argue a badge is unecessary when you could have one per line: if everything stands out nothing does. Especially as your button style looks similar.

Would work better w simple unread count, as Mail does.

@dansup didn’t you learn from meta that it’s just not possible to make a iPad app for a picture based social network? ;-)

@dansup pretty sure that was a conscious choice by mastodon to avoid prioritising an instance.

But I agree having to select an instance is very confusing and having such a simplified sign up is a massive win for onboarding.
