@aral @codinghorror and wasnt his second suggestion already tried, as the do not track feature feature built into browsers then promptly ignored by ad tech?
@aral And I don't remember the RAF doing recon flights for Nazi germany.
@aral Not sure what Paris Hilton had to do with this 😂
@aral I wonder if/when these companies will issue apologies, like the French train company did for its part in the holocaust…

@dansup didn’t you learn from meta that it’s just not possible to make a iPad app for a picture based social network? ;-)
@dansup pretty sure that was a conscious choice by mastodon to avoid prioritising an instance.
But I agree having to select an instance is very confusing and having such a simplified sign up is a massive win for onboarding.
@dansup @PixelFed Bad call imho. Two different products, two different use cases. Each making the other worse if sharing an app.
@aral and wealth isn't worth.
I so loath the phrase “his net worth is $xxx”
@jwildeboer Or his arguments have made his action less tainted…
Disappointed w “Buy Now: The Shopping Conspiracy” on Netflix
“Ex-insiders from the world's biggest brands share the manipulative tricks they use to keep customers consuming — at a devastating cost to our lives.”

Reveals… fuck all. Designers do a/b testing. Stores want to sell more. Plastic isn’t recyclable. More things produced means more trash.
@deceptivepatterns@masto.design could have added so much more. Not to mention surveillance capitalism…
@aral Ok, so then who provide browsers? Just Google and Apple?…
@aral I get that Mozilla getting into ads is unpopular. But you've also highlighted their dependancy on Google as problematic.
How would you recommend they fund themselves?
@stephaniewalter That’s what you think you do (and I agree). But is it what client think we do?
It's not about AI actually doing as good a job, it's about bosses/clients thinking it can.
@aral I need royalties on that term ;)
@thomholwerda @glynmoody Big risk here is for nazis to then take power in part of the EU/Nato, and then inherit all this war capacity :/
@RalphBassfeld @aral wanna bet that only hide them and they will keep and sell everything g forever anyway?
@aral * note: Company X, not the X company.
@aral That’s the same office that was repeatedly and strongly overruled by its EU wide counterparts for not doing their job properly?
Earther. Dad^2. Husband. Franco-British guy in London talking about UX, design, apps, tech, with a side of politics and climate catastrophe warning.
