@hacks4pancakes Tangentially. As a parent, I'm pretty peeved at how schools push kids to do everything through services like Gmail and completely fail to teach awareness of online privacy issues.
@maggiejk We had over 30 years of experience with Ebola by 2014. We knew how it was transmitted, and we'd seen many outbreaks contained in Africa. We knew that the US had the facilities to contain transmission from known cases. The risk of infection was something to take seriously (as doctors definitely did), but Trump paid no attention to the actual risks or available containment measures. Instead, he was willing to sacrifice someone based on his gut reaction. That is irrational.
The article below recounts exactly what Trump said to do. His panicky approach would have hampered our efforts to contain the virus, creating even more risk for us.
Has anyone found an excellent ice cream shop in the Atlanta region? I've found a few decent ones, but I know better ice cream is possible. #Atlanta#food#icecream
@clacke I didn't realize it was the anniversary, but on Sunday I'll be meeting up with some folk from our local, Atlanta-focused Mastodon instance, and raising awareness at Atlanta Streets Alive. What event happened 16 years ago?
