Doing laundry in NDG this morning, and someone hit all of Sherbrooke with posters for the March 15th demo against police brutality. Standing in one spot I can see about 20 posters wheatpasted up. The entire street is like this as far as I can see in either direction. Every pole and box for blocks. It's hard to capture in a photo but I tried. I guess this is what happens when the SPVM tells anarchists to stop postering 😂😂
All my gratitude to whoever did this, it has warmed my heart immensely this morning. 🔥 :black_sparkling_heart:🔥
@nerkles im well aware. I think about it alot. Whatever the accessibility improvements of e-bikes are (imo they are seriously oversold) that does not change the argument that the current e-bike market is pushing way way more unsustainable short lived landfill-destined e-bikes onto the market (mostly to people wjo do not need an e-bike) and there is less and less production of practicle and affordale longlasting sustainable bikes (for riders of any pedaling ability). on top of that, i've seen very little bleed over of e-bike tech and enthusiam into improving various e-mobility tech in general. Accessibility is not the priority of the big e-bike companies and the shops and companies pushing them.
I'm happy to speak about accessibility and e-bikes but please don't assume it's not something i keep in mind, because it's actually something i think about a lot!
This guide has helped many people start their own Mastodon/Hometown instances (and it's only slightly out of date!). I'm sharing again since there are many new users, and many people in my orbit talking about wanting to move instances or looking for a new instance.
If you have the resources consider getting some friends/ collective/ affinity group together and set up a new instance! More small instances!
>Tuned allowed users to exchange notes, photos and videos, challenges, voice messages, notes and lists, and music via a Spotify integration. They could set their respective moods, and — for more intimate content — choose a password or a blur filter. A “check-in” feature nudged couples to suss out their feelings about the relationship in any given moment, with prompts to add context.
What I really want to know now is did Tuned support polycules? Is there a polyamory relationship couples app? Could this a whole niche??? 😧
March 2022 a prospective buyer of my building started coming around trying to get my neighbours and I to move out. These were get-rich-quick flippers led by a 19 year old. They bought the building and proceed to try and "renovict" us. My neighbours and I resisted and got a lawyer once we needed one.
A year later they gave up and sold the building to another real estate investor who is more of an established get-rich-slow type. They walked into the legal shitshow the previous buyer had created and tried to carry it on.
They failed and finally they fired their lawyer, and signed every demand we gave them to drop their pursuits to evict us, fearing the embarrassing number of claims we had open against them that we would likely win. My neighbour, who had no physical lease and very little documentation, even got them to sign a new lease with him at his current rent.
So 16 months later we are all still in our apartments, with our rent unchanged. It's certain that this landlord or another will come around and try again at some point, but we collectively have maintained our 3 apartments at some of the cheapest rents in Montreal. Not to mention humiliating 2 different sets of landlords in court at the Tribunal Administratifs du Logements. Total victory.
Once again I am begging the void to produce an activitypub fediverse answer to bandcamp.
Labels, orgs, groups of punks host instances.
Bands create profiles. Can upload their music, organized by release with lyrics, art, metadata. Numerous download formats available. I don't really care about payment for music, but probably some integration with external payment platform (librepay?) for PWYC downloads goes here.
Profile is viewable by anyone. So far this is a self-hosted bandcamp clone (that also does not really exist as far as I know).
You can follow profiles from elsewhere on the fediverse and you'll get posts when the band publishes new songs/releases (with embedded player linking back to the media hosted on instance?) or posts other updates (tour dates! etc). (It should have RSS too)
@anarchistbicycleclub I'm a big Debian guy at the moment but I'm starting to feel like maybe having all the latest packages/versions could be nice. And it seems like there are better ways to decrease the likelihood of everything just breaking suddenly...?
