This afternoon I've received 5 sensors of a certain type¹ I've bought in the weekend.

They were in individual plastic bags (purple), I've put them all in a single plastic bag, and put the bag back in the box they came in.

In the last hour or so I've taken one of them out, connected it to the microcontroller on a breadboard I use for these things, programmed it to use it, it worked. Then I decided to take another microcontroller whose sensor² was broken, and change it with one of these.

So I picked up the soldering iron, all of the accessories, and changed³ the board that connects the microcontroller and the sensor, soldered headers to *another* one of the new sensors, and update the firmware, and everything worked.

And now I wanted to put away the remaining ones in their right place, and I can't find them anymore.

They aren't near in the box, they aren't near the upgraded microcontroller, they aren't in the plastic box where they are supposed to end up

Aaaand thanks everybody, while writing this I looked under the soldering mat (which I had put back into its place) and the sensors were there!

¹ BME280 on a breakout board, but that's not the issue
² SHT20, it had started to give absurd humidity values
³ it's an I2C device. There are 4 pins. *why* is everybody putting them in different combinations??? why can't they settle on something like always putting them in the same order??? (maybe the one used by easyC / StemmaQT, since it's already out there?)

@sinituulia OTOH, ironing is pretty suitable for listening and even watching things at the same time

and it's also good for making listening to certain things more tolerable (don't ask me how I know and what long, boring, phone call I had to go through today :D )

@zeppe @leodurruti @rapitadaglialieni il litio ha dei problemi, ma lo si ricicla anche bene, e uno dei motivi per cui ancora non lo si sta riciclando in massa è che le batterie da auto al litio stanno durando molto più di quanto ci si aspettasse, e ancora non ne vengono smaltite in massa.

quanto ai treni, se non si sta parlando di linee di montagna con grossi problemi di infrastruttura (gallerie basse e strette, ecc.) e percorsi solo da due treni alla settimana, esiste una cosa chiamata alimentazione aerea che funziona discretamente bene :D

@zeppe @leodurruti @rapitadaglialieni ora che hai prodotto / estratto l'idrogeno (che ok, puoi farlo con energie rinnovabili, ma non è un processo così efficiente), l'hai stoccato, hai sostituito periodicamente i contenitori in cui lo stocchi e lo trasporti perché l'idrogeno li rovina, eccetera eccetera, non è più così conveniente rispetto a portare in giro direttamente l'energia elettrica

salvo che per applicazioni specifiche dove il costo in più per gestire gli svantaggi dell'idrogeno è giustificato dal costo maggiore o dall'impossibilità di passare all'elettricità

@oblomov @Yaku in effetti il giorno in cui andremo a trovare i mastocartolai sono già d'accordo con @diegor che lascio a lui il bancomat, ed entro con una cifra limitata (ancora da negoziarsi) in contanti :D

e magari anche con dei limiti di volume :D

@Lichen I know of a place in Italy that sells deadstock yarn in that thickness, but it's mostly for machine knitting rather than weaving

they mostly have wool (including cashmere), but at times I've also seen cotton and linen which may work better for weaving? I'm also not sure if the combed wool could be useful.

(I only have very limited experience with weaving)

sapevo che una volta c'erano lezioni diverse, con cucito, ricamo e cose del genere per le femmine, e cose più tipo falegnameria per i maschi, che già così a me avrebbe dato assai fastidio. ma uscire prima? ma che cavolo.

@robz poco, perché sono accumulatrice seriale di craft e il punto croce torna ogni tanto, ma non tanto spesso.

chi mi ha insegnato dava tanta importanza al retro (ricamando su asciugamani e simili in effetti è fondamentale), per cui uso tutte le tecniche per avere il retro pulito come il davanti, ma tendo a non essere *così* precisa come il tuo nella foto.

@lydiaconwell I also started to read Pratchett from Colour of Magic, and stopped there for a long time. Then @diegor gave me one of the later books to read and I got hooked.

My feeling is that in the first two books (The Colour of Magic + The Light Fantastic) he was still learning to write Discworld novels, and it shows a lot. Then Equal Rites starts to feel like Pratchett, except in crayons (the themes are all there, and the style is getting there, but there are still a bit of rough edges). And then everything else is great with no caveats.

(ok, there is still a bit of a tendency to solve plots with a bit of a Deus ex Machina, but it's there to solve the stuff that is happening, not the important bits about character development)
