Wait. Is this Labor Day weekend?

I am so clueless on when holidays arrive.

I actually don't own much of anything that's white.

It's not that I wasn't expecting this. I was. However, their refusal to even allow a Palestinian speaker on stage is the shit cherry on top of the shit sundae.

It was a pretty clear "Fuck you, we're not going there." moment in how this ticket is going to approach matters should they make it into office.

And they still may not make it into office because they've pissed off demographics that they need to do more than squeak by in November.

As always, I'll vote for the Dem ticket come November.

But I find any initial excitement I felt when Harris and Walz became the candidates has dissolved under the weight of giving lip service to ceasing supporting Israel in its racist war of genocide.

I think it's pretty clear that they're both going to be sending more munitions to support that country's butchery.

Each part of my pay and my labor goes toward supporting racist murder and that really upsets me.

I am made an accomplice to evil.

And remember, there's a whole conservative judiciary and other right wing stooges in the government who are waiting to come into play during a close election.

It might be overturned.

I hope the Dem's didn't fuck themselves during the convention but they might have.

I think the thing I will remember most about the Dem convention is that they were too chicken shit and evil to allow any Palestinian speakers.

It sends a truly american message:

A person from a marginalized group can make it into the halls of power if they don't mind stepping on other oppressed people during their journey up the ladder of hierarchy.

@gwynnion I think that's a sound conclusion to draw.

And the thing about Dem sourced racism is that it wears a fake smile because it's considered gauche to be outwardly racist but that racism is fully expressed via genocidal policies, arms sales to racist countries, etc. It's a form of racism that relies upon policing and military do the oppressing and killing for them.

And they can pretend to be nice reasonable liberals with clean hands while others carry out their violence and ill intent.

My supervisor/trainer asked me one day if I was super religious. I was like, "No. Not at all."

He looked confused and said, "Oh, I assumed that because you never curse."

I was laughing in my head. No you dipshit, I'm trying to deliberately alienate you in passive ways and I see it's working, LOL.

One summer in 1989, I worked as a junior drafts-person** in an engineering department.

It was a vast room full of white cishet guys, mostly.

I really, really, REALLY did not want these guys trying to "bond" with me, thinking I was a part of their pale penis decoder ring of misogyny fan club.

I did one simple thing. I didn't cuss. Ever. I also avoided responding to any off color sexual joke beyond a blinking empty look of disengaged innocence.

It worked. They stayed the hell away from me.

I noticed this election that pundits and politicians have shifted from using the phrase "working class" to using "middle class" instead.

So, I'm just going to assume they aren't talking about me, or to me.

As a trans person, I'm used to that anyway. The only time the media talks about me is if it has something hateful or completely fabricated to say.

The media is one privileged demographic addressing other privileged demographics. They usually don't notice us unless they have lies to share.

It's not all that different with politicians.

Unless it's election time and Dems are courting the unwashed, unwanted masses they need to stay in office, they ignore us and assume the default position of one powerful demographic addressing others in power.

We're invisible, inconvenient, and uncared for when a November political race is not on the horizon.

If it's a GOP politician, however, they'll talk about us constantly, spreading hate and lies to all who will listen.
