@sinbad I was like a month or two from the warranty expiring. In the end got sent an entire new PC but... yeah.... Absolute nonsense

Vile Lasagna (vilelasagna@mastodon.gamedev.place)'s status on Monday, 09-Dec-2024 21:12:05 JST Vile Lasagna @sinbad So... I USED to have ONE computer with Windows, for work purposes
A random day I inadvertently turned on this PC and, completely unattended, Windows decided to:
- update itself
- reboot the machine
- initiate an UEFI updateExcept for me the UEFI update failed and bricked the entire computer (it was an ASUS mini-PC that has no sort of dual BIOS or recovery mechanism)
So it's very possible that Windows is messing with UEFI software entirely unprompted
I don't have Windows anymore smh

You either increase the sprint time if the tasks REALLY take that long OR if things are half done, they haven't been sized correctly during planning
Management tends to treat this as having something to hold against the team every two weeks but the idea is (supposedly) that the reason for the sprint is "protection against clients clienting"
Because every sprint turn is an opportunity to pivot [+1]

Vile Lasagna (vilelasagna@mastodon.gamedev.place)'s status on Wednesday, 10-Jul-2024 07:15:54 JST Vile Lasagna Everyone's pretty excited about Affinity Suite kicking Adobe when they're down and I get it, it's a well, WELL deserved kick. In fact, it's a fraction of what they're owed
BUT
I would just like to urge some caution when throwing yourself into the waiting arms and walled gardens of the next regular for profit company
This IS good and all but if Affinity ever become as dominant as Adobe they WILL enshittify and screw you over just as much, if not more
This behaviour isn't exclusive to Adobe

Today I found out not only Clementine, the music player, has been dead for years (forked into Strawberry, tho) but also Amarok seems to be gone for a couple years.
A while back I struggled to find something as simple as an RSS reader that would sit on the systray and notify me (thank you QuiteRSS)
And today, same deal looking for a calendar app. Ended up paying EUR10 for Rainlendar
