Thing interesting left on the internet? I remember .. 30 years back, going over usenet and always finding things .. amazingly written articles, and what not. Today, *poop*. Not even regurgitated poop .. just been poop since the last decade.

@bkuhn @richardfontana We apologize for posting a different text on the blog than the one agreed upon. The mistake was done in earnest by an employee and was corrected as soon as we realized the error.

@osi Where are the election results? You keep posting self accolades that have nothing to do with you, but refuse to post what you have always posted. https://codeberg.org/OSI-Concerns/election-results-2025 #OSI Misses the Point. #OpenSource #FOSS #FreeSoftware

@fdavies93 if an license, any license, is unenforceable… then it becomes non-free. You do no longer have a license to redistribute the work!

@fdavies93 neither the GPL nor the AGPL tell you how you can use/modify the program.
> They both require you to release source code of any modified versions to users, though the AGPL is stronger on who is considered a "user".
They assuredly do not require this. You are only obligated if you distribute the code.

@fdavies93 This is also what makes it a decidly nonfree software license, since it limits how you can use or modify the software.

@fossunleashed If the SSPL is not enforceable, then it is a non-free license since default copyright kicks in.

@fossunleashed > ” The main distinction between what's Free Software, and what's Open Source is the copyleft-ness of the license. ”
No, thats not it. The issue with the SSPL are unrelated to copyleft.

It is interesting how many people still live in the old FOSS world. When meanwhile all the rules changed and code got and gets stolen at an industrial scale. Didn't you realise yet that your particular license doesn't matter anymore?
I don't really think this will kill FOSS, due to the inherent advantages regardless, but everything done is now essentially public domain, no attribution required.

@ksaj You don't need to be a OSI member to sign it.

@eff what is your position about the refusal of the @osi to publish the recent election results that has been published since its inception? Why has the #EFF not signed the https://codeberg.org/OSI-Concerns/election-results-2025 petition?

@ksaj No, you're not .. to be that inept you'd need to possibly be the @osi ... a total refusal to listen to the community, those who pay their bills.
(just to keep the three semi topical 🙂

If you are involved in any way (volunteer, donor, employee, leader, fan) of any of these #OSI Affiliate organizations…
https://opensource.org/affiliates
…please urge that organization to sign the petition to demand #OpenSource Initiative release the results of their recent election …
https://codeberg.org/OSI-Concerns/election-results-2025Please help with this even if you've already signed the petition individually. Since the Affiliates are a specific district of voters, the petition is substantially stronger if more Affiliates sign!

@bkuhn They really don't, some organizations where very quick to attack individuals for their opinions entirely unrelated to #FreeSoftware / #OpenSource, organizations that are entirely silent now when the @osi is renegading on its promises to its members.

How do we hold organizations accountable for the topics represented by the community? @osi refuses to publish the voting results .. @fsfe has said nothing, it was quick to attack individuals, and a sister organizations for entirely unrelated topics. What does the @fsfe and @osi actually represent? The user? Or the sponsors ....
The @fsf has, despite its flaws, has always held a true north and fought for the user. #GNU #FLOSS #FOSS #FreeSoftware
#OpenSource misses the point.

@fsfe @fsfe@media.fsfe.org Why has the #FSFEurope not commented about the recent refusal of the @osi to publish the 2025 unredracted election results? https://codeberg.org/OSI-Concerns/election-results-2025
