I think I’m finally beginning to understand how a technologically and socially sophisticated society like the galaxy in Star Wars can transform within a single generation into a despotism patrolled by storm troopers, where the citizens have no remaining civil rights, where an all-powerful emperor is able to wield the power of the entire state at will, and where there are no railings on any raised platforms.
@sundogplanets I didn't know it under that name, but once I googled it I realized I knew it as "that thing that happened in the movie _Gravity_". I still voted "No idea" because the name means nothing to me.
@inthehands This video is amazing. I can almost hear the quiet hum of satisfaction with which the soap dispenser gently soaps the hand of the person plugging in the power cable.
@evan There is exactly one #StarWars movie that -- despite several flaws -- made me Feel Things and I immediately wanted to rewatch when I'd finished it -- and of course it's #TheLastJedi. That last scene alone gets me every single time.
