@reidrac A conclusion I got years ago, is most people genuinely dislike learning 😔 We who find joy in learning are rare birds. It's disheartening, but this explains so many things.

@anthk Yes, that also. But unfortunately it lacked many features last time I checked (I don't know how they compare today, I cannot even remember the new name of the project).

#Minecraft currently will work even on a potato. But you can add #DerivativeAI to the formula to make it much worse in so many levels, while at the same time wasting a huge pile of compute resources. https://www.aiweirdness.com/minecraft-with-object-impermanence/

      Minecraft with object impermanence
I generally am uninterested in generative AI that's too close to the real thing. But every once in a while there's a modern AI thing that's so glitchy and broken that it's strangely compelling. There's this generative AI knockoff of Minecraft that fails so hard at being Minecraft that it

People discovering #Meta is a rotten piece of shit, were not paying attention since... well, since Facebook exists. But better late than never. Remove #Facebook, #Instagram and #WhatsApp NOW. Do not tolerate people not respecting human rights, just because it is convenient.

#Apple agrees to pay $95 million to settle a lawsuit for routinely recording conversations and selling them to third parties, but well, it seems recordings were "Unintended" 🤷♂️. So much for #Privacy

#Thunderbird for #Android being a K-9 Mail rebranding is an interesting twist... If Mozilla doesn't screw it. I have been using #FairEmail for years and I'm happy with it, but K-9 Mail was always the other option for me. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2024/10/thunderbird-android-client-is-k-9-mail-reborn-and-its-in-solid-beta/?utm_brand=arstechnica&utm_social-type=owned&utm_source=mastodon&utm_medium=social

And my Portal Gun is finished. I should maybe adjust the orange color to be a little darker, and make a video!

@joeo10 Well, I don't know about Sony, but Google track record is not exactly pristine. They have been caught several times collecting data they should not, like when it was found they were collecting location data even with location disabled, and blamed "a bug". If the software (firmware) cannot be audited, I do not trust big companies.

@joeo10 Yeah, the linked article shows how to disable it for some models, but... well, I don't trust them. Can you guarantee it is really disabled, or that something like a firmware update won't turn it on again?
