I had the pleasure of working with a movie-projector maintenance expert in Fort Worth, TX who had a stutter. I was told by others that he worked alone because of it.

I absolutely hung out with him while he installed the Norelco 35/70 and I thought we had a great time. One of the smartest humans I've ever met. And I just waited for however long he needed. Funny guy, too.

Whooping cough is so very much more serious than people imagine. Coughing until one vomits, bruises a rib, or damages the cartilage in the ribcage are just a hint of what's in store. Plus a permanent, non-productive cough for the real winners.

The Pinto thing was a pretty minor increased-risk, since the gas tank placement on rear-wheel drive econo cars of the day was pretty much identical, IIRC the fix was a single shield on a single bolt on the differential. While the word “ferrets” and the cartoon versions have huge comedic possibilities, the real thing is fuckin’ scary. If people knew about them, they wouldn’t be pets. (Their tenacity and willingness to attack creatures 100x their size are both legendary.)
