How the hell do we continue to see live, public demos of robots being clumsy?

How do these VPs not know the costs of failure far, far exceed the profits of success? Why aren't they listening to the voices saying "It isn't ready yet" ?

I know all the reasons, this has simply been an Exasperation to the Skies, not a full-blown Scream into the Void.

@oldguycrusty @Benhm3 Ages ago, I left a tech position. Instead of a traditional HR-drone exit interview, I got an interview with a C-suite VP. She did listen to why I was leaving and all that, but it was clear she really wanted to find out how much my new position paid. I think they were ready to match it (to some extent), but weren't willing to match a salary twice what they were paying me.

Not sad I left. About six months later, they closed the office in Hawaii.

The HR surveys 'say' they want to hear from you - so they can leverage your ideas & input to build a better 'experience'..

      They do not. Not really..

Lower-level HR folks probably even believe it. They drank a LOT of kool-aid in school and afterwards to get this 'great job'.

But Director level and C-suites do NOT want to hear your complaints, ideas, or input.

They are just looking to cash out.

I say this for the benefit of any younger folks who are thinking things 'have changed'.

I have spent 40+ years working "Big Tech".

      Be clear.

Leadership - Never - wants to hear why their 'big idea' is flawed.

      Never.

Even though all the crap from HR promotes 'teamwork',, and 'Transparency', and 'managing up', etc., blah, blah...

Remember HR does NOT exist to support employees. The role of HR in a corporation is to minimize/mitigate legal exposure to lawsuits.

      That's it.

Not trying to be cynical - just sharing my experience, as an employee & also as a manager.
