@dansup 2/2 But they are obliged to respond in accordance with applicable law to such reports from users. And this is where the problems begin. They need to hire a lawyers or other experienced in some topics people, and this cost enormous amount of money. They need to learn how something like that works, they need to take all responsibility of what they are doing and what effects their work/projects will have in the future on people. And this can be very overwhelming for some of them.
@dansup That's only the one side of the medal. There's also the second one. Lots of dev's are pretty good at what they are doing yes, but also they don't pay enough attention to other aspects of their work. Those direct ones and especially indirect ones as well. There many more things to have in mind as only code, usability, UI and such. There are laws, social impacts, mental or even moral ones as well. Most of devs doesn't know about that. And that's fine, because they don't have such duty. 1/2
@dansup You know why they never ever will reveal those numbers? Because the real numbers will clearly expose their actions (data harvesting) done not only in front of but also and especially behind the curtains. They are greedy, but they are not stupid.
@dansup People have a good reason to be upset, because those open protos have no proper tools for users to feel themselves safe in the case of collaboration with some big-tech corpos being well known for lying many times to users. Such things should be developed in the first place, before someone even began thinking on opening, collaboration, federation etc. Before, not after the fact. The order plays an very important role here. Doing the opposite will only produce horribly disastrous results.
@HistoPol@Mastodon Bleach-Bit is a cleaner app for linux systems. You can also use "czkawka", an multiplatform program from here: https://qarmin.github.io/czkawka/ Cleans junk, finds duplicates and so on. It is very useful and blazing fast.
@HistoPol@Mastodon I have that same since the latest mastodon update. Just cleaned up all the junk from the Firefox yesterday by the Bleach-Bit app under the Arch linux and works again fine.
@gorky@HistoPol 2/2 Luckily there is a workaround. You can use patched signal fork called "Langis" together with the ntfy (alternative notification system/api) and extra "for signal" patched microG version. Such combo will allow you to have and use 100 percent identical in the terms of functionality signal on the degoogled devices and your account won't be banned.
@HistoPol@smallcircles To be honest I have no idea if Threema will work? I don't use android anyone since few years. Btw.. This app is open source or not? I think better solution in such case can be Session, SimpleX, or something similar to them both. They can be normally used on for example SailfishOS with android api enabled. They also have a cli and desktop versions as well for many operating systems.
@HistoPol@smallcircles You can't use original Signal on the degoogled devices due to the "hardcoded" google-services dependencies in the app code. Okay, they are some modded Signal versions with google crap removed, but still that's a "third-party" work - you can't be sure of what exactly is in the code inside. There's no warranty that someone doesn't compromised the app code. We have a few good example of troianised apps in the Samsung and Huawei store with over a million counted downloads.
@UschiAachen Meine Oma und auch Mutter beide waren Postbeamte und trotzdem kapiere ich bis heute nicht wie die manche Post wahnsinnigkeiten funktionieren. 😁
@kaia Send it back asap. From the sympthoms looks like you have one of the tactory-faulty series. If you can, change it to the normal 6 one (without a). Then check some time on the normal android if all works fine, and if yes, then put on the device some custom rom if you want.
@pixelfed Is there a plan to add an option for sharing the images directly from the third-party apps like galleries, filemanagers etc? I mean like on the screenshot. There is no Pixelfed app listed there. It will be very practical and useful to have such feature.
