@WarnerCrocker Basically, they’re not working on the current beta. The Writing Tools toolbar button in Pages does nothing. There is no option for Writing Tools in a pop-up menu on selected text. I was able to get the Siri app to proofread selected text by invoking it from the pop-up menu and typing “Proofread” into the Ask Siri field. But there’s no UI to review suggested changes like some apps currently present. Unusable.

Not a fan of the current state of Writing Tools in iPadOS 27. Given that was the main feature I wanted to test, I'm a bit miffed.

@WarnerCrocker It’s mainly the proofing tools I’ll be using in anger. I must rewatch the keynote section to see what it can do.

Claude is my LLM of choice, though.

@WarnerCrocker I made a lot of use of the chapter markers to skip most of the AI chatter. CL is probably closest to my view.

I don’t think everyone is clamouring for AI in Apple OSes the way a third of the ATP crew wants them.

@WarnerCrocker I want to give it a few weeks to really give them a good trial. If you see me post that I've renewed my Grammarly subscription, then they failed the trial! My Grammarly subscription renewal ends today, and I've put the renewal on pause for two weeks.

I’m trialling Apple Intelligence Writing Tools and Claude as a replacement for Grammarly when editing.

@WarnerCrocker They should give the glasses away for free to anyone who is registered with impaired vision. They are genuinely useful to those people, and all the companies that make them can afford to do it.

Do some good in the world.
