@Gargron When will Mastodon make it easy to create starter packs to help us find people whose interests match our interests? Bluesky does this really well. Mastodon should also!
@AnarchoNinaWrites I just want to tell you how much I appreciate your insights. You always make me think, even when I don’t agree 100% with what you’re saying. But I mostly agree.
This shows why the gop must be voted out everywhere in November. DeWine correctly says the lies about Haitians in Springfield are “garbage” but refuses to condemn Trump and Vance for spreading those unAmerican, racist and dangerous lies. Don’t let them get away with this “two step”. GOP politicians should condemn Trump or resign in protest. They need to choose country over party, finally. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/ohio-gov-dewine-defends-haitian-migrants-springfield-trump-vance-rcna171198
@aral@katzenberger@BenjaminHCCarr The question the proof of work advocates need to answer is “if there’s a cryptocurrency that has value but uses 99+% less electricity to create it (Ethereum), why shouldn’t we just use that one?” I’ve asked this many times and have never gotten an answer I understand. Maybe I’m just not smart enough, but maybe there isn’t a good answer.
@AnarchoNinaWrites I strongly agree. This is why many of us keep on stating our unpopular opinions in response to obvious nonsense. We may not be able to convince that guy, but others are watching, and maybe some of them will be convinced.
This work is important, but I’ve concluded that worrying about exactly how much carbon budget we have left is no longer critical. We need to act as if there is no more carbon budget, and that means getting emissions to zero ASAP. Lamboll, Robin D., Zebedee R. J. Nicholls, Christopher J. Smith, Jarmo S. @cstross@smokeygeo@erlend@pluralistic Business model is totally different, though. They license tech to other companies instead of building giant software systems for users to access.
