@inthehands what would happen if we called it simulated intelligence, SI? An artificial object implies that it still has the properties of the original, while a simulated object only pretends to be the same as the original.
@skinnylatte@other_ghosts ah, interesting! Here in the Midwest people give away upright pianos, there are so many that were made by small manufacturers in our 100 year old houses, and very few people interested. So they are basically worthless, though they should fetch $2k to $3k... That probably scales to $30k in California rich person world.
@autolycos These things are incredibly expensive to move... When we bought our first house we also got an upright, for about $1200. In the divorce my ex got the piano and since then moved it to all the places she lived in the last 12 years, at a cost well over $10k...
@autolycos Oh, right, I am vaguely aware that they need to be tuned every now and then. Personally I failed at playing the triangle in 5 grade... My musical skills are non-existent...
@Infoseepage no, last name is Franke, Carsten is a very common first name, from Denmark. You might be related to a former president of Germany, Karl Carstens.
@Infoseepage I read that they did that to simulate emergency digs... And probably they all have real jobs, so a 3 day weekend was all they could do. And there are probably people on the team preparing and cleaning up.... There are online only episodes where they did a month long dig at Sutton Ho last year and this year, also very good. Need to visit that place...
@Infoseepage a rest day is always a great thing! Have you ever watched "Time Team"? A bunch of British archaeologists digging 3 day short projects. Often castles, but also prehistoric, iron age, Roman and Saxon sites. Quite some characters...
@Infoseepage I really loved traveling in Britain, but never had the chance to do it for weeks at a stretch as you do. Time to shut down the business and retire... These long walks are really exhausting! your 27k are triple what I do in a normal day... Heading home to Germany next week and there I will get to maybe 15k... already exhausting...
