@gabek I believe that Owncast will get its flowers. I think we’re on the cusp, socially, of a Fediverse revolution. These major media power-holders like Twitch, Twitter, Reddit, etc., are really starting to act up in ways that are harder to look past. Lots of talk about Kick, but it’s likely to go the way of Mixr. I think that people will realize that software like Owncast is the only solution. Thank you as always.
These Skylines streams have gotten a warm reception over the past weeks — so tonight is our first in a new WEEKLY series of city-building every Thursday!
Man, @owncast is so incredibly sick. I'm chomping at the bit to have the free time I'll need to transition to it as our channel's new primary platform. After using it daily for the past couple of months, it's done nothing but impress.
For years, Twitch has had countless streamers by the balls, including me. Having a free and open source alternative that I can run on my own server for my channel's audience is hugely liberating.
Finally, we'll really have our own space to be ourselves.
@owncast YESSSSSS! In May? That's so close! I've always wondered about adding features to my page in HTML, but I've been too busy to see if this is already implemented in Owncast -- even if it meant editing config files by hand, like if there was some channel_page_template.html file or something that the web-server draws from.
This would do things like allow me to authenticate Mastodon to the Owncast channel page among countless other things. So sick!
@owncast Oh, and I've been thinking about how dope it would be to attach a blog directly to the streaming page, pretty much underneath where the bio is now. It sounds like this upcoming update would make it simpler for me to try something like that! 😍
