Just found a dead possum in our yard 😔

No wounds either. I thought he might be "playing possum" but after a couple hours it was clear he was gone.

He's been a regular visitor the past couple of years. Last week he was foraging in our back yard, not very concerned when approached. So I feel like it may have known it was getting close to the end. So sad. They're such cool animals.

Animal control is not open today either, so I had to bag it up so it's not exposed while we wait to properly dispose the body.

It's been really hard not to persistently catastrophize about the near future.

The most effective remedy is to remind myself I'm not alone.

From this it follows that community building and engagement, both online and in-person, is going to be critical.

I'm so glad I have a wonderful community right here on Mastodon. This place will remain my primary social account. You people are amazing! 💜

I keep thinking about how so many people now live in a completely different reality than mine. Not a new thought, just hits different now.

Seems like a lot of people, not necessarily the hardcore MAGA people, but the mainstream, low info conservative voters, are legitimately unaware of all the things many of us know to be extremely disqualifying about Trump.

Everyone lives in their own (mis/dis) information bubble.

So when these same people lose their healthcare, social security, medicare, and/or job, I don't think they'll be able to make the basic connection that it was a direct and inevitable result of what these mfs told us they would do.

Seriously. Ask a non-MAGA Republican what they think about Musk's threat to inflict economic pain on the country. Many of them haven't even heard this!

Huge swaths of the country can be so easily manipulated now. They don't care to think. It's all just tribal vibes.

It's terrifying to consider what this means for our future.

I try not to, mostly because Trump enrages me with his ridiculous appearance, his Gish galloping lie-fest and overall inability to speak like a normal person.

But also because I'll be watching WNBA games 😃

I just keep tabs on the socials to get a sense of what's going on. Maybe turn on MSNBC afterwards to get their take.

I also figure there will be so many clips posted the following day I won't actually miss anything.

I didn’t realize 90’s indie-pop/shoegaze band Velocity Girl had reunited last year.

They just announced new shows in DC and LA. I never got to see them live, but loved their albums “Copacetic” (‘93) and “Simpatico” (‘94).

They’re also reissuing Copacetic with a new mix.
