    The number of people on the internet who think using shame will cause people to change or even listen shows the gut belief about the human mid works. Shame only EVER works if paired with respect. You must care about the opinion of a person before shame has any impact at all. Shaming people online especially is dumb with your own assumption that they respect you. Shame is a method of showing a lack of respect and poor opinion. Shame is respect denial but only actually after giving respect. You are being essentially an emotional drug dealer. They need their fix, but you HAVE to get them hooked first. If you haven't do that, people react terribly because literally all you are doing is disrespecting someone, straight off the bat and unless you are really charismatic, your chances of having the impact you want is near zero. #psychology #communication #shame

    @cobalt @codemonkeymike Yeah, the entire bluray drive system is a scam. Even on windows you have to buy new bluray software for like $50 if you want to watch the latest formats. Why streaming crushed bluray even more than it should have

    Stunned but not shocked that people are saying that #Biden enabling genocide is worse than #Trump winning the white house again. Trump 100% encourages the genocide and will remove any restraint Biden still has on Bibi. Jared was excitedly pitching the idea of real estate investments and a Trump tower on the newly stolen land. No #genocidejoe is not good, Trump is still exponentially worse on anything you care about including Gaza.

    @stux Hate crime is just another word for terrorism. In the US, if a community of people have hateful crimes used against them to make them live in fear and watch their backs its not about the individual act anymore, its a pattern of violence against them why they need extra layers of protection and more servere punishments. Hate speech is an extention of a Hate crime and part of stochastoc terrorism

    @hannu_ikonen Andrew Johnson was always ok with slavery, he just hated how the rich slave owners looked down on him. So he pardoned all of them and gave them back their land and property (thankfully slaves were classified as people then), if they just came to the white house and kissed his ass.
    They then used funds meant for southern vets who weren't allowed to get veterans help because they were traitors, to fund books like the confederate catechism and gone with the wind. Had those rich traitors rotted in prison, the south would a very different place. It the reason they impeached him. They were one vote shy of removing him but some senator in the pocket of a war profiteer voted against it because the VP was too radical for him, things like giving women the vote and regulating industry.

    TIL C S Lewis and Aldus Huxley both died on the same day but were so overshadowed by another death that day that they were forgotten in the noise. JFK. It was also the first airing of Doctor Who and had to rerun the first episode the next week because it had such low ratings affected by the assassination. #history

    @Jeanpaul @rbreich they never made the trains run on time. They covered up all the train incident reports which were way worse and more dangerous after crushing unions. There was an international line that international reporters would ride that did run ridiculously smoothly to look good for the rest of the world but the rest of the nation had terrible inefficient dangerous train travel.

I personally prefer friendica because I can interact with all the fediverse including diaspora where the G+ refugees went to, as well as the fact that I can filter twitter through it and purge out all the garbage.
