Anybody on #bluesky? Is it fun at all? Got an invite code, and trying to decide if it's worth the time.
Context: I like it here, but this is the only social media I've used for the last 10 years or so.

@mattly of course! I really like this blogger...if you have an RSS feed or another way of following, I highly recommend subscribing.
Could we be moving toward a new Romanticism that reacts against the mechanistic and algorithmic forces currently holding us hostage? Could music again lead the way, as it did in the 19th century?
"But what does that kind of music sound like? In 1800, it was Beethoven. And today?"

@mattly awesome, thanks! Good to hear you're not experiencing scaling issues with a 4k monitor.
@mattly cool, thank you! This would be a very similar move for me.
Any insight on monitor choice? It seems like it's a bit complicated, and I certainly don't have any intention of paying Apple prices for a monitor for a music computer. 😬
It seems that they have an unusual native resolution, have you tried and been able to use normal monitors (not 5k)?
I have the opportunity to get a new Mac studio with an M2 chip at an even trade for my big i9 studio computer with 64 GB of RAM and really high quality components.
The entry level Mac Studio I would be getting has lower specs than my computer, however, I have seen evidence that their new chips are amazing for audio.
No brand loyalty here, but I do not have any other Apple devices atm. Currently running Windows. It would be primarily for audio, mostly large mixing sessions.
Thoughts?
This is the Mac I'm looking at:

And this is the video that really made me consider it:
I'm just gonna drop this here.
I'm updating to windows 11, god help me :ablobwhatisgoingon:
The fact that #Starfield has a planet-scanning system so close to Mass Effect's is, like, really cool.
I think it was ME2 where you could just scan planets and mine resources forever, and it was so relaxing.
Starfield definitely owes a huge debt of gratitude to ME in general.
The world, or at least my corner of it, has been a ball of entropy hurtling toward shitshow since I was born in 1981, but at least I got to read Calvin and Hobbes in the paper every day as a kid.
I remember reading this one and feeling my lil heart swell, and I just saw it today and felt the same way. It's a rare talent that can speak to the deep inner worlds of both children and adults. Bill Watterson, Hayao Miyazaki, and who else?
I just migrated to a new single-user instance, so I guess it's #introduction time again!
I'm Alison, a #music obsessive with a penchant for #songwriting, #MusicTheory, #ElectronicMusic, #synthesizers, and #guitar. I'll mostly post about music, w/ other fun sprinkled in.
Until the #Fediverse, I was away from social media for about ten years b/c in its corporate forms it makes me crazy. Turns out, though, it's probably not the humans that are damaged, just the platforms. So glad to be here!
@killyourfm but yeah, it's so strange how the tendency to SHARE EVERYTHING has made private moments seem important and almost risque
Sometimes I like writing a decent song and not recording it or writing it down, ensuring that no one will ever have the experience of hearing it except me.
@kevin @thompsonize @flockofnazguls oooh this is totally my party. I feel a little disappointed in myself every time I lose one of my"vices," like I've let a little part of me die. So I try to bring them back when I can.
Thank god for booze, cannabis and narcissism.
I'm sure this has been said before, but why aren't servers in the #Fediverse simply called "communities?"
"Join a community" or "start a community" feels both accurate and clear, not to mention welcoming. People who want to understand the infrastructure would have no trouble finding the information.
I'm against Radiohead covers where the singer sounds anything like Thom Yorke.
This is what every. Single. Music hardware manufacturer should do, at LEAST after production is discontinued on an instrument.
I don't use the word "should" lightly, but I really believe this.

On a whim, I decided to draw wireframes by hand instead of using Figma today, so I scooted some audio gear out of the way to make room.
I think I'll have to redo them a couple of times if I plan to present the hand-drawn version to my client (a very cool dance company), but WOW I felt more engaged and enjoyed doing it so much more than usual.
I haven't been excited about a Spitfire Audio release in quite awhile, but I'm absolutely going to grab and use this free Labs release from Sam Battle, aka Look, Mum, No Computer.
It was recorded at his obsolete music technology museum in Kent. VERY cool!
I make music and tech stuff for humans. Interested in a wide array of animals, plants, and things. #Songwriting, #synthesizers and #guitars are my primary means of expression. I'm growing ever more passionate about using #Fediverse and #Indieweb principles in the service of direct connections between people and artists, so I post about that as well.Pronouns: she/theyLocation: New England, US#neurodivergent #aphantasic
