About #Race in #Politics: "I don't care." Finally #Trump is honest. Racist dipshit doesn't care about anybody who isn't white.

@emarktaylor @cfb I cannot believe how bad they look. Like holy shit, this is the biggest drop off I've ever seen for a team in my life. They look like they're not even going bowling this year.

Man #aging sucks. Lately I've been getting up every 2 hours or so at night to #pee. Can't get a good night's #sleep anymore. Went to the #doctor and had my prostate checked, it's fine. So my doctor was like "¯\_(ツ)_/¯ this happens."
So I guess I'll just wake up and pee all night? Bleeeeh.

@BeAware @markwyner This is seriously blowing my mind, because I've been collecting and selling video games since the early 90's. I've been familiar with this game and the bonk series since the first game released (it was a big deal in 1990). Looking at the price chart the value has only recently spiked relatively, but seriously, this used to go for $5 at funcoland and they'd have stacks of them. It was considered one of those massively produced games that was good but not great.

@BeAware @markwyner ...what the fuck. This has to be some of that used game market manipulation people keep going on about, because Bonk's Advenutre has been a bog standard cheap NES game for literally decades. I had 5 copies from Funcoland back in the day. It was always the Amiga version that was more sought after. WTF this is crazy and so dumb.

@FlashMobOfOne I seriously subscribed to just about every magazine at one point or another. Well, every non-first party magazine. EGM, Gamepro, Game Informer, Game Players, Next Generation, SWATPro, Diehard Gamefan, etc. Still have hundreds of magazines put away, including every issue of EGM from 1991 to 1997. Gaming mags were so cool back in the day.

@FlashMobOfOne I always hated them tbh, haha. They were things I got from funcoland for free, not a magazine I ever bought. My favorite magazine back in the day was EGM or EGM2. Absolutely loved EGM2 back in the day, when they would focus on niche or japanese titles.

So #GameInformer shut down, as far as I know they were the last US #Videogame #Magazine. End of an era, how insane. I remember when you would walk up to a news stand and 1/2 of the magazines were all gaming related.

@FlashMobOfOne Thats why an HBO subscription was amazing. Uncensored movies with no commercial breaks and even stuff like stand up comedy. HBO + VCR was a legitimate life hack back in those days. I could fit sometimes 3 movies on a tape, and I'd write down the start and stop times of each movie on every tape so I could easily pull up a specific movie haha. I was very meticulous with my labeling.

@FlashMobOfOne I lived and died by the VCR. After a few months with a VCR and an HBO subscription, I had a cabinet full of movies to watch at my fingertips. I would record every episode of stuff like MST3K or The Simpsons and had entire seasons on call thanks to my VCR. I was so prolific about recording stuff on VHS that I'd routinely get blank VHS packs from family members as stocking stuffers during the holidays.

@FlashMobOfOne It's a constant battle, though. Drives fail regularly. Thanks to them being Raid-1 I can restore them, but it's never ending maintainence. I also spread everything out over 4-5 TB drives, so if any one drive is lost, the entire library doesn't get destroyed, but that makes for even more work. I'd love a permanent, resilient data storage medium that was also affordable.

@FlashMobOfOne I'm a notorious media hoarder. Been keeping data alive on harddrives going back to the late 90's now. Everything triple backed up, once with Raid-1 array, once with offline offsite duplicate at my brothers house that I update every 6 months. I had a huge DVD and VHS collection back in the day, my parents would religiously record HBO. So about 15ish years ago, I got a happauge card and spent about 2 years dumping everything into video files. Got about 25 tb of media on my server.

@FlashMobOfOne Every game I've ever owned, dumped. Every movie, VHS, or DVD I've ever owned, ripped. Every floppy I had from back in the day, duplicated. I can go back and find files on my server with dates back to the 80's from some of those floppies.
Backing up your own media at home is the only sane thing to do. I even sometimes record straight from netflix using screen capture software, oldschool VCR recording style, because I fear the day all this will be taken away from me.

@FlashMobOfOne incidentally, there have been long periods without internet, like when hurricane harvey hit and we went several weeks without the internet being restored, where this kind of media hoarding was so worth it. I don't need netflix or youtube or anything, honestly, because I have literally years and years and years worth of content on my server available at fingertips. I mean that literally, I can put my stuff into a playlist and the runtime is several years long.
