@mekkaokereke Starter Packs are an impressive innovation, no question about it. I joined Bluesky as soon as I could, mostly to get “lstaples” before someone else took it and to hedge my bets. But I think the fediverse is the best long-term solution. Also, this is the only place that lets me follow both Bluesky and Threads [which I will never join] users.
I’ve decided to follow lots of folks on threads.net and I’ll now start unfollowing any folks that post too much stuff that I don’t find helpful — nothing new here. But I’m wondering, if I search for users with mastodon.social, it seems like I never see user results from threads.net unless I’m already following them. Is this a current limitation of the system or just my imagination? @tchambers, Do you know the answer?
@Dana Yes. I had a few incidents of this over about five years. Haven’t had any in about the past five years though. I couldn’t really connect them to any cause. Happened once while I was standing on the train, once while just sitting at my desk at work. Never any other physical symptoms — including headaches. I asked my eye doctor about them and she confirmed that the phenomenon is in the brain and not the eyes. (This is all in Tokyo.)
@tokyo_0 Before they moved out of Mita, and before the pandemic, I used to go to Temple University lectures. There was one right after the Brexit vote. There must have been six or more experts on a panel to discuss what happened and what would happen. All were UK or EU people except for one US speaker who had extensive EU experience. They were all completely stunned. They frankly admitted that they had no idea the result would be yes. I don’t remember anything else they said that night.
Anyone know what this rooftop antenna setup is for? The round antenna on the far left looks like GPS, but I wonder why the square antennas are pointing up. The antennas on the far right don’t look like 5G to me…
