Welcome @bmacDonald94 thanks for the follow. Boosted your post about *Silent Spring* by Rachel Carson. I've been thinking of reading it, but not done so yet. Not spotted it in the wild, so may have to actively seek it out. Heard various things about it, so kind of want to read it so I can form my own opinion on it.

@futzle I've certainly seen someone apparently doing, "just the right thing" only to have me grab the computer, and go... "yeah, works for me..." And vice versa... I've found *plenty* of bugs which the good developers have gone, "man that's a new one on me, let's track it down..."

@BeAware It wasn't really even close to that. But one I know and really miss seeing in *this* timeline kind of sucks. But another instance, I got blocked, because... Well I criticized the blind use of block lists, and tried to discuss what can be problematic about that.

That instance has had other cases where blocks have been personal, and knocking connections blindly.

@BeAware mastodon.social wasn't *that* bad. It was just historically that size of instance, it's *very* difficult to have good moderation. And stuff was taking more than 90 days for some stuff.

I gave it that kind of time, because being a big instance, it meant that it was harder to justify blocking the instance.

@BeAware Hey, no problem with being confused. I was just letting you know of what the situation was here. No criticism, no suggesting anyone do anything in any direction. Though honestly, I'd be interested to see if Threads might be worth considering unblocking. Or .social (unrelated).

@BeAware Oh, I meant my instance is basically a single user instance. And blocked at the instance level.

There *may* be reason to reverse that, but it was based on activity that hit my instance, not just political.

My thing with Threads was, "I'm a single person instance (now a 2 person instance briefly a 3 person instance) so the damage done while I'm not around is minimal". Bluesky seems to be *trying* to be not a problem, but I'm not sure they will prove to be not a problem. Thanks for your work.

No I'm not going to do anything, but you know... I actually *do* know that. And you know what... You are the one who is lacking knowledge... Privacy guard actually is *not* a benefit. Sure you found it trivial to commit a crime. But you know, that's on you, not on me. Privacy guard would make it "harder" but you know... It makes my domain more vulnerable.
