@inthehands They're not as well known as the big guys, but anveo.com has a whole visual call flow programming system where you basically drag and drop functions into a workspace and join them together to process calls.

The basic programming tools are included with your DID fee.

My simple bot blocker flow asks the caller to press "3" to continue and then hangs up of the keypress doesn't arrive within a few seconds.

I don't understand why so many folk on #mastodon are recommending against running your own #mail server.

The fundamental premise of the #fediverse is distributed diversity yet when it comes to email apparently centralising the whole planet to @gmail is the preferred outcome.

This is broken and dangerously wrong.

Running your own mail server is equally as valid as running your own #mastodon instance.

The insights into space exploration, with details that us more technical folk enjoy, is fantastic. The latest example being updates about comms issues with the Mars helicopter, Ingenuity.

The factoid that Ingenuity uses off-the-shelf Zigbee to talk to the rover is the sort of technical insight that you don't get anywhere else.

Three thumbs up, or however many you're meant to raise.

If #alien life ever visits Earth the chances of being able to communicate with them is zero.

Why? Cats. Dogs. Cows. Horses. Goats.

Supposedly #intelligent humans have spent millennia engaging with domesticated animals who are genetically similar, have evolved in the same ecosystem and yet we have no real clue as to what they think, want or care about.

So if an #alien lands on Earth, what hubris makes us think we'll be able to converse with them or them believing they can converse with us?

@thomasfuchs @jrconlin Heh. I know you're making a joke, but on a more serious note, you'd have to think latency has something to do with the benefit of assumptions too.

Is that a lion in the bushes? Does it look hungry? Could it eat me? Is there a closer target than me? What are my escape options? Let me carefully evaluate the situation before jumping to conclusions.

@nixCraft Don't forget that #Unix was just an early iteration of "everything is a file".

#Linux tinkered at the edges with things like /dev/proc and /dev/fd, but Plan 9 is really where it's at if you want an OS which fully embraces the concept.
