My Duolingo subscription is about to expire. Are there any non-evil language learning apps? I'm ok paying a fee. I just want it to be effective and not evil.

I have read about their CEO tweeting sycophantic comments to fash leaders, but I don't know of any good alternatives. Gmail is of course also fash, and if I send an email to my work account from Tuta, it gets filtered out.

I'm thinking of setting up a server to host my own emails and also provide a place where I can do rsync backups via ssh.

Can anyone recommend a good clound service and/or steps for setting up a self-hosted email server with open-source software?

I have a PhD in mechanical engineering and 12 years experience writing vehicle fuel economy and/or energy consumption simulations in 4 different programming languages. I know maybe 1,000 words in German. Is there room for me in Europe? Where should I look? I want to apply my skills solving climate change rather than fighting to convince sociopathic Americans that my skills matter.
