🧵 1/ I have not talked about it at all here but I had a second cancer this year, breast cancer. (I have had treatment and it will be fine.)

There's a time period in cancer where you know you have it but you don't know how much surgery or treatment you're going to need. It's nothing but uncertainty and worry and fear. It’s a bad time. But once the treatment plan starts happening everything feels a lot better because there is ONE path forward even if it is a hard path.

I kind of wish the moral arc of the universe that bends toward justice had a tighter radius.

@dalias I guess it depends on your definition of “cloud." The camera does need an internet connection, and then you connect directly to it from the app for a live stream. But there's no video saved to cloud storage anywhere (you can do that with an add-on subscription but it's not required).

@dalias We are former geeks intensely paranoid about privacy and we like reolink. Just works out of the box, no cloud, records to SD card, viewable live through an app, can motion/pet/person detect, good reputation in the security cam world. We are not yet using HA but googling indicates it is not hard to set up.

It's been a rough of couple months but I think we're finally getting a handle on Max's food issues. He's gaining weight and being much more active, and generally acting like he's happier (eg, he is yelling all the time).

On the way to the doctor today I saw a cybertruck on the shoulder being loaded onto a tow truck. This is the second cybertruck I’ve seen towed. Hard not to cackle meanly every time, but here we are.

Tech: I have added software to this century-old mode of transportation, and improved it.

Humanity: You fucked up perfectly good engineering marvel is what you did. Look at it. It's got kernel panics.

(whispering) I don’t know who needs to hear this but you can do the arty creative thing just because you like to do arty creative things. You don't have to make it your side hustle. You don't have to put online to gather likes. You don't even have to show it to anyone at all. You can just do the arty thing for you.
