Really hated how Across the Spider-Verse made many of my spidey faves (like Miguel) cruel and dumb. The whole idea of a canon disruption / “gotta let the tragedy happen” goes against what makes Spidey cool.

It sucks a little bit that this is the situation and they know about it, that takes away some from the “whyyy me!” / hope against hope that I love about Spidey.

It sucks a lot that they wanted to be actively complicit in this.

We’ve got to stop the genocide, I’m not disagreeing on that part. Juat saying that Trump isn’t the answer there. He has never been the friend of Gazans, or of West Bank palestinians for that matter. Trump accelerated the annexation of Golan Heights and of Jerusalem.

It’s insane that the Biden has kept on delivering bombs. I never defended that. We need to keep the pressure up for that to stop.

This is the ratchet theory in action. The right makes things worse but then the so-called left keeps up the beatings. Biden’s administration announced in 2021 that they’ll continue to recognize “Trump Heights” in the Golan Heights. Voting GOP is not the answer. GOP has consistently been even worse for palestians.

The first-past-the-post US electoral system is broken. It’s so hard to understand that such an utterly evil and corrupt party is by a pretty huge margin the “lesser evil”.

What’s ghoulish is the current ways art is tangled up with making a living. Most of the widely used forms of monetization are tied up with making the work worse, ad-ridden, copyright-laden, less accessible, less sharable, more controlled, more limited, less available, gunked up with DRM, and placed in an exploitative structure where execs and distributors of course always make sure that their slice of the pie is the biggest, in a world where the village troubador needs to compete with the world’s biggest stars or starve.

One of the main purposes of the 1h Safari app limit is to help jog myself into the habit of checking the TODO list before going online. (I believe that as long as I’m being purposeful and intentional, I can be online as long as I want.)

That hadn’t happened until today; mostly I had learned how resourceful I am at getting around browser bans with scrapers or Cocoa web views or running a browser from another machine via Xorg. But that’s OK. It doesn’t have to be impossibe, just inconvenient enough that it makes me think differently; and I need to make hay and use this brief window of time to relearn my morning habits before my id gets too comfy with these rerouted accesses to web.

What’s been happening is that I start Safari as per ushe*, run out the 1h app limit, and then if I need to pay a bill or check a rule on BGG or something I’ve been using the workarounds. Today I almost did the same but managed to stop myself! Mostly thanks to how I had to do something in the neighborhood that forced me to leave my apartment, that did more to shake me out of my routine than any app limit could.

So I’m hoping this is the day!

*: Luckily my mourning routine itself doesn’t involve Safari. Teletext news scraped over Gemini, RSS, Fedi mentions via Emacs, and email in Delta Chat. But often enough there are links (the RSS is especially dangerous here).
Or perhaps I should say unluckily since the entire purpose of this was to change my habit to check the lists before checking all of this other stuff! And I don’t wanna put app limits on email—what if Mulder & Scully finally gets back to me about that UFO?

OK, so the good news is that:

1. I managed to do my important, goal-directed errands before doing my morning routine, and
2. I then did my morning routine pretty directedly & focusedly as well. And I was taking care of myself, making & eating good food which has been rare for me lately (been living off of peanuts, beer & popsicles).

The bad news is that my so called “morning” routine ended up taking almost eight hours 🤦🏻♀️

I’m so reactive-minded! From reading mail & news, I ended up writing three blog posts and 17 Fedi posts. Yeah, yeah, we all know that this kooky world needs my well-thought-through takes but, uh, I don’t know if you y’all know this but apparently if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you, albeit with mediocre success when it comes to y’alls unflappable flapper 👩🏻

So I can’t let go of this wrestled angel just yet 😰
I might need to make some life changes in this 🐝

No, the exploit doesn’t rely on systemd being run or even installed. If you have the poisoned version, update right away please. The infected version is infected even without systemd (just as long as it’s run as other than arg0, which is the case with many init systems.). Now, it is because of systemd that Debian and Red Hat shipped a version of sshd that was dynamically linked to liblzma. So that’s the connection to systemd. But it’s “SSH linked to liblzma” that’s exploited, not “SSH inited by systemd”.

Delta Chat and Thunderbird both seem more afraid of accidentally sending an unreadable encrypted message than accidentally sending an unencrypted message. I kinda would want the opposite philosophy ideally.

Texinfo in particular is structured, semantic, accessible, and has a glorious legacy of being one of the very first public hypertexts.

Rather than killing it, I’d want to improve its web exported output, make it easier to write, but keep the specific reading apps around.

Yes, this is positive. What I want specifically is this:

• My AP posts to also show up over there on AT
• (This should be opt-in because a lot of other people do not want to be proxied, but I’d wanna give it a try at least.)
• People can post replies to my AP posts from there and I can reply back and forth in a convo
• I can block individuals who behave badly or turn off the whole bridge if it’s too many

This is similar to how I am on OFTC normally but Matrix people can reach me at the bridge on @_oftc_sandra:matrix.org and those comments show up over on my OFTC account and I don’t even have to notice they’re on Matrix.

I’m not in a hurry to start following people who are on AT 🤷🏻♀️ even though that might be fun down the line.

I’m scared AT will be way more toxic and twitterlike since they deliberately are designing for an algo-driven world/global timeline which is the opposite of the bubble-coziness we have here on Fedi.
