For the first time ever, google news has started showing me articles about cricket -- the sport

I've never watched cricket. I've never played cricket. I've never searched for things related to cricket.

But I did mention cricket to a friend in google chat a few days ago.

Imagine sending an email that starts like this

This one is less refined, but it's much taller and it's marbled, so it needs to be trimmed to clean up the surface anyway. I will refine it during trimming

It's not very tall, but this is the best bottle I've ever thrown. It's not wobbly at all, and it's nice and thin and light. I'm proud of it

Designed and printed myself what I think is a nice little spinner for trimming pottery.

I don't have anything to trim in class tomorrow, so I probably can't try it out tomorrow, but I'll try it eventually

I wonder if our current fashions will look this ridiculous to people 450 years from now

An esteemed elder

My brother works at a healthcare facility that recently unveiled a bunch of new, time-consuming, and complicated procedures for sterilizing equipment.

The equipment techs have been complaining because the procedures are, in their opinion, stupid.

The organization they work for cited a research paper that said these procedures reduce infection rates.

My brother, however, has a science background, and knows how to read a peer-reviewed paper.

He found the paper they cited, and it does say that these procedures will reduce infection rates, and it cites another paper as its source for that.

He found that paper and read it. It cites another paper in making that claim.

He found that paper. It had cited a previous paper. So he found that one.

He traced this claim all the way back to its original paper, which doesn't even make that claim. These procedures were just mentioned in the paper as something that *could* possibly reduce infections, but as something that would need to be tested to know for sure.

They weren't tested. A series of authors just kept citing the author before them, each making the claim a little more firmly until it was stated as a proven fact.

I need to see if I can learn how to use the SDK so that I can see the really nice demos that Charles wrote on a TV.

If I get all this working where I want, I think I will package the esp8266 in a little housing with a battery, and on off switch and an antenna so I can easily take it with me to a store

Since there are no more analog TV stations on the air in this country, I have no way of testing sets I find it thrift stores anymore.

So, I finally decided to try the code that Charles Lohr developed for tricking an ESP8266 into transmitting analog TV signals over the air with its RX pin.

This is actually someone else's version of his code because he wrote his code to be compiled in the esp8266 SDK environment and I don't know how to use that. This code compiles in the Arduino IDE and it does work!

This is being transmitted over the air. This is not a composite video signal.

Some of my coworkers still haven't learned, even after the last four years, that it's ok -- and actually good -- to stay home if you're sick.
