I was noticing a couple days ago that the parking structure at work has a prominent warning at its entrance that only vehicles weighing less than 6,000 pounds are allowed, and it got me thinking.
Are older parking structures up to the task of most of the cars parked in them being EVs?
EVs weigh considerably more than gas powered cars. Even if each individual vehicle weighs less than 6,000 pounds, what happens if you load a parking structure with all EVs?
I asked an automotive journalist friend about this and he said older parking structures probably can't handle that much weight, and that no one is talking about it or doing anything about it.
I suppose that means things will just keep trundling along until an overloaded parking structure collapses, and then it will be a whole media circus and political shitshow.
