@juergen_hubert @mekkaokereke Well put; in general I think *many* people conflate a right to speak with some reciprocal obligation to listen.

Its close cousin is the belief that the right to "having your own opinion" comes with the right to be taken seriously.

What bugs me most about both fallacies is that they seem to be most loudly expressed by people complaining about everyone else's sense of entitlement.

@mekkaokereke Even if I were not bollard-pilled, I particularly love the framing in this article

"No matter who you are or how much money you make, the only way to avoid the irrefutable physics of stationary concrete vs. fast-moving steel is, simply, *not to hit the damn bollard"*

@thomasfuchs I thought the whole point of spending time online was to feel bad?

@inthehands concisely said, and timely too. TY.

The kicker for me is having and being able to build mental models of other peoples mental models. It’s why I cringe at efforts to substitute programming for foreign language curriculum; it’s not the ability to order lunch in another country so much as the first hand exposure to a slightly different window (of human experience) for which Python/JS are no substitute.

All of which is to say nothing of the value of developing an informed imagination…

@thomasfuchs as a non-space-light-capturer, how much of this image detail is reliant on your geolocation? I.e. with similar equipment could you get the same shot in the US Northeast? It’s flabbergasting to me!
