This is George doing what he does best, taking an afternoon nap out in the yard. This is one of his favored spots, a bench I made from a couple of the old pillars from Fernbridge. When I put them there in 2017, they were about 15 feet from the creek. They are now slowly sinking into the creek along with the rest of the bank. Who knows, thousands of years from now maybe some archeologist will dig them up from under 20 feet of mud and will spend his afternoon pondering how a part of Fernbridge ended so far upstream on a tributary.
@aral@letsencrypt So pretend you're looking for a plumber and you happen to drive by a plumber's truck in your neighborhood. They have their web site listed on the side of their truck.
Would you rather have remember mycityplumber.com or 135.181.044.050?
I can remember a 7 digit phone number.
Plus, no more shared hosting.
Along with the problems others have mentioned.
There's a reason domain names were invented in the first place.
@aral@villares We were forced into an $20K upgrade for my wife's cochlear implants when Med-El discontinued making their proprietary rechargeable batteries the old ones used. Even with insurance, we were left with $7K out of pocket. All because they quit making the batteries after 10 years and like all rechargeable batteries, they eventually have to be replaced.
@Infoseepage@RickiTarr I was going to try to read the Book of Mormon one time, and I got as far as the introduction before I realized this was some real bat shit crazy writing and I gave up. It's amazing to me that you can walk around with the world's knowledge in your pocket right now and still believe what Joseph Smith wrote.
Elon Musk thinks he's worth a $56B pay package. Tesla has 140,000 employees in the U.S.
That's $400K per employee he's stealing.
It also works out to $35K per Tesla automobile made in the U.S. this year.
So if you buy Tesla's cheapest model, 75% of your monthly payment is going directly to Elon, while the other 25% goes towards paying the factory workers, buying parts and supplies, and keeping the factory running.
Retired photographer and web designer, who had a side gig of fire inspector after being a volunteer firefighter/EMT for 15 years. Been restoring an 1888 Victorian, and spending my retirement trying to garden in between floods and learning to play guitar, bass, and keyboards again, as well as picking up mandolin. Once in a while I still get my last motorcycle out of the garage. Still married to my high school sweetheart. Sharing our home with 3 cats, Mr. Bingley, Mr. Darcy, and George.
