Saying "AI may be useful for this in the future" without any justification is a worse way to saying nothing than saying nothing. Please just say nothing instead.
@anarchopunk_girl Hm, I suppose I should go read the third and fourth book sometime. Really liked the first two. The only reason I stopped reading was because I didn't feel like reading the same series for a long time (which is hilarious because soon after I started reading Malazan and couldn't stop).
People who find manga tricky to read because it's right-to-left haven't read nested screenshots with commentary on the internet that has a tree structure with unclear reading order.
@anarchopunk_girl Wow this is kind of fucked up. I suppose an Android distro could just change that, but then they'd also have to maintain their own notification service for all of their users because no apps do it themselves because of this.
@anarchopunk_girl Ah so that's why notifications kind of suck on Google-less Android lol. I figured it was something like that. Do you know if that applies to SMS as well?
What are some of the stronger arguments against #Scihub? I'm preparing a discussion session for a course, and so far the only argument we have against Scihub is that it's illegal, which seems like a very weak argument. I have a bunch of strong arguments for Scihub though.
@anarchopunk_girl You ranted about zealotry around pureness in functional programming before. Does Haskell fall into that category of too much purity for you?
OK, so I'm trying out #Signal. One thing that the default SMS app has the upper hand is the ability to select text in messages. I use that a lot in order to look up words in a dictionary so this is a pretty big deal for me.
Is Signal like the de facto private communication tool for talking with your friends? The reason I'm hesitating is the centralization and the phone number thing.
I'm struggling to describe in words how and why, but the world of #Malazan feels like mythological. The world doesn't quite feel real because on some fundamental level it doesn't operate on the same logic as ours. It doesn't feel like it has our physics with just some stuff bolted on that's called magic.
@mario I'm about to (re)watch Shoplifters today with some friends. I'm not really used "slower" films, but this one I really liked! I feel like I should maybe explore more of his films, would you say that this one is a good next film to watch?
