I suspect that UK universities are limited by government policy and contract agreements as to what official platforms they can use

That said, I'm sure there must be a lot of personal Fedi accounts in @academicchatter @edutooters and so on.

That reminds me of a scene in The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers comics.

Since assuming that their phone line was tapped was the safest option, they made sure it was.
One of the brothers mentions several inflammatory words e.g. 'bomb' and possibly yelled down the phone line.

However, as you're on the.art instance, you should have a ton of artists in your home feed.

Yes, hashtags are the way you highlight topics and find communities on Mastodon. Definitely make more use of those!

Hashtags can be followed, like an account, to discover new topic posts. Best applied to niche interests, so you have a manageable feed. Eg. I followed 'urbansketching' to see all posts.

Use or request help with alt text on images, to make sure you get boosted.

Unlisted posts just won't get shared to the general public server stream of posts. At least that's how I think it works.
