     I gather that it's polite to reply with unlisted posts. But I think they're still available on the tags.

     Unlisted posts just won't get shared to the general public server stream of posts. At least that's how I think it works.

     Yes, hashtags are the way you highlight topics and find communities on Mastodon. Definitely make more use of those!

     Hashtags can be followed, like an account, to discover new topic posts. Best applied to niche interests, so you have a manageable feed. Eg. I followed 'urbansketching' to see all posts.

     Use or request help with alt text on images, to make sure you get boosted.

     Personally, chatting on Mastodon has been fine. There are lots of great conversations going on if you #JoinIn

     I followed you on here hoping you'd chat about #housing etc but your feed mainly seems to be RTs from the other place? :birdsite:

     I find that using a few considered hashtags helps me get more engagement on here.

     I am despondent about my experience here on mastodon. I feel like Edward Lear's Quangle Wangle, who said
