I'm a #socialist & support #degrowth & #decolonization, I think we need to join environmental movement with the labor & national liberation movements. I practice no-till, regenerative #permaculture agriculture with the goal of growing a chestnut-canopy food forest with my community. I am an educator and work at a bar :)

鳥国から #TwitterMigration してきたみなさんへ。少し前に「初心者の自分が語る初心者の心得的な気づき」を投稿（tootと言います）しました。たぶんまだ残っていると思います（但し投稿は基本、２週間で消えるように設定しています）ので残っている限り、ご参考になればと思います。

自分もこちらを始めたのは今月からです。もちろんフォロー先は以前からの友人 @Yukari さんだけで、闇の中手探りからのスタートでした。

アルゴリズムで「おすすめ」が出てくる鳥国と違い、自分で開拓していなかければタイムラインは空白です。

自分がどんな話を読みたいのか、どんな会話がしたいのか、自分で考える最高の機会です。

そして、どんどん「こんにちは！」って話しかけるといいと思います。自分もそうやって新しい繋がりを作りました。話しかけるときは一言でいいから、相手の投稿についての自分の印象とか、何か含めると繋がりやすいかと思います。

Mastodon Instance Owners:

I know everyone is taking a beating right now, but who is everyone using for Mastodon hosting (preferably managed)? My current setup is part of an exisitng VPS I have, and I want to move to something more robust. Eventually opening the isntance for more users.

I would love to go with @mastohost, but I know how busy they are right now maintaining their current users.

That's taking time. It's taking some lessons in humility on my part; realizing I don't have all the answers.

And it's taking some patience.

That's not easy; we're watching warily as the #TwitterMigration grows.

But we've had some great contacts this weekend, and good people showing interest. I'm really hopeful.

Thanks to everyone who's expressing supportt. I think we plan to have more info and structure as the week progresses.

An infantile man-child like Musk may find it witty but there’s nothing witty about it and it’s not even funny. When Trump is the man who raped the American Consitution, this tweet is even more disgusting. Ok so of all the many criticisms of #Musk's disastrous handling of #Twitter and horrendous treatment of it's staff. Peeking at birdsite & seeing 2nd trend is #SpaceKaren did make me laugh in to my coffee.

We should be taxing billionaires & definitely not letting them buy massive chunks of human interaction & knowledge.

最初、まずはプロフィール整える（写真とかイラストとか、何かアイコン作ること）といいと思います。何をしている人なのかとか、どんなことが好きとかも書いた方がいいです。得体の知れない人だとやはりちょっと近づきにくいじゃないですか?

最初はタイムライン（TL）が空白ですよね。アルゴリズムがないので「おすすめ」は流れて来ません。（自分はこれ、気に入っています。）誰かのフォローリストを参考にするのもいいかと思います。また鳥国移民は #TwitterMigration などのハッシュタグを使っているので、そこから探してみてもいいかも。

あと、サーバーの引越し可能です。他の方が書いているので参考にしてみてください（ごめん、自分はそこまで書いている余裕がないです

サーバーはこんなふうにいくつかありますが、途中で引越しもできます。

最初はいろんな人をフォローしないとタイムラインが空白になりますが、誰かのフォローリストを参考にフォローしてみる（当職のをご参照いただいてもOKです）と、そこから人間関係も広がるかと思います。

1) How do I get my own #mastodon /server? I am not a sysadmin. There is 2 routes to this.

a) a managed hosting like masto.host.
➕ very good for no technical experience. web server cost is built in. somebody else is doing all the maintenance
➖ it does cause a bit of a centralization, very few reputable options so limits the options to move.

Almost 180k new users joined #mastodon yesterday, a new record. This third #twitterMigration wave happened after Musk's Twitter 2.0 ultimatum to #Twitter workers. Each wave is stronger than the previous one. Here is my updated plot showing the three consecutive waves.
