It really sucks that someone grabbed the username, uploaded the icon and has only used it a handful of times...

So...now that BridgyFed is live, how about if those who don't want an open platform (like we currently have) block the bot. Then after a reasonable enough time (a month?) We make it opt-out like the rest of the platform?

I'm still SO confused by the fact that a lot of you want a closed platform, while being on an open one, yet here we are.

What say you? Can we ACTUALLY get back to the goal of this platform? to be open and allow those on other platforms to follow and interact with us freely? Or are we still wanting our "open walled garden" concept?

ActivityPub is built on being an open platform for engagement across social networks. However, what we have here with BridgyFed, does not build on that goal, because you all asked it not to be.😔

Ya know....I've been on Threads for a little bit now and experienced some interesting things.

Mastodon devs claim that they're taking so long to do Quote Posts because it's "not as simple as posting a link, like these third party apps are doing, its actually quite complex".

And here Threads is, doing exactly that. You post a Threads link into a post, it becomes a quote post....🤔

Is there some weird trickery behind the scenes going on that I'm not aware that is happening or....is it really that easy? I do feel like I'm being fooled by Threads.

Worked on a #fediverse client hoping to eventually incorporate it into my #game .. it was more of a "learning exercise" and was kind of a "solution looking for a problem"

I had to sit it aside for the last 6+ months because "game maintenance and new feature stuff" was honestly more important.

Today, I finally found the problem that will make me prioritize my #fedi development again.. 😂

Can't wait to get started back in a couple of weeks!

Apparently on Threads, you have to make a post complaining about not being seen because of the algorithm, to be seen because of the algorithm.🤦♂️🤣

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that a "Mute Hashtag" button on each Hashtag's "page" next to the follow button, would be useful.🤔 Like if I click on a hashtag, the page that comes up should allow me to mute the tag, just like it allows me to follow it.

If you're new, you might want to post an #introduction post littered with hashtags that are related to your interests.

A lot of people browse that hashtag to find new users and help them along.

A lot of instances don't allow full text search, therefore hashtags are their only way of seeing your posts.

I find myself using the same hashtags for my interests, over and over. However, there doesn't seem to be an app, so far, that allows me to have a list of frequently used tags so I don't have to retype them for every single post...

How is this not a thing yet? I've been BEGGING for a "Hashtag Drawer" type feature in apps for AGES now...🤦♂️

I gotta say, I never seen people HATE the platform they're on and don't want it to succeed as much as Fedi users hate Fedi.

It's kinda weird. Ngl. There's even an account with 200k+ followers called Fedi.Tips spreading hate towards Fedi possibly succeeding. It's wild.

I fear for the platform's future because of its userbase and that's not something I'd ever think I would say.

Still waiting for a *good* Fedi app for iOS that isn't stuck on Mastodon...😩

Been wanting to migrate to Sharkey for awhile now because Mastodon Gmbh refuse to add any useful moderation features for some weird reason. (Completely manual moderation in 2024 is inexcusable)

However, I access Fedi mostly from my iPhone and the only app I could find is Sora and it's not my cup of tea.🤦♂️
