@risottobias @morgan @djnavarro imho a challenge for the #fediverse is the still partial understanding of the dynamics of online information exchange. How design interacts with and shapes human behavior: E.g., how actors and content are discovered, moderated, amplified. Feedback loops and the coupling to "real life".

There is a vast range of options and a sample of a handful #adtech implementations hardly spans what is desirable. Patterns like #email and #rss point to a much wider space.

I don't get it. #mozilla has a free #matrix service but no #email . It has the most relevant email app after #microsoft but noone uses #mozilla as a service provider.

@Joe, what I love about #YunoHost is that it’s not just a one-click install for web apps like #Nextcloud etc., but everything else:

• setting up SSL is literally just one click and *poof* you’ve got #LetsEncrypt set up
• (sub)domains are equally simple to handle
• for #DNS it diagnoses what’s wrong and offers copy-paste entries (for some registrars even a single-click import)
• #email? automatic

The only thing I had to get my hands dirty with was setting #NAT on the router.

Go to Thunderbird Menu > Settings > Composition, and scroll to 'Attachments.' Click on 'Keywords' to maintain YOUR custom keyword list. 📎

#Signal also doesn't provide value to me beyond what #XMPP + #OMEMO & #eMail + #PGP/MIME can offer for decades now.

Instead it creates shitty dependencies to #Google - #APIs that have no legitimate reason to exist and their unwillingness to allow #SelfHosting makes it worse than a default #Zulip installation in terms of #InfoSec, #OPsec, #ComSec & #ITsec.
